I don't know about skunk cabbage, but the castor plant is DEADLY poison. Many people plant it as a good boarder, but the castor bean will kill you if ingested> and if it doesn't right away, will shut your kidneys down. This was the virtually undetectible poison in Ann Rule's true story, "Bitter Harvest"
