I don't know about skunk cabbage, but the castor plant is DEADLY poison. Many people plant it as a good boarder, but the castor bean will kill you if ingested and if it doesn't right away, will shut your kidneys down. This was the virtually undetectible poison in Ann Rule's true story, "Bitter Harvest"
