On 99 cent day at our local Thrift store, I found a food dryer in great shape. I decided to try drying different fruits and veggies for nighttime snacking. A long time friend told me that she and her husband really enjoyed not only growing their own onions, but drying them also. She said that they had become their favorite snack.

So I dried some and really enjoyed eating them at night while watching TV. I also noticed that over this winter I didn't get sick at all. Knowing that onions are good for your immune system, I am sure that my nighttime snacking was actually good for me.

I find that I like dice cut better than rings. So, this is what I do, cut onions and then dry them according to the manual that came with my dryer. If you don't have the manual it can usually be found on-line by doing a simple search. Also, sweet onions taste the best. I like Walla Wallas!

I have a dehydrator also, I am very interested in the recipe. I buy the ones in the cans to put in my casseroles, but making them myself would be cheaper. I bet the sweet 1015 onions would be awesome. Post your recipe please. Thank you.

I have a dehydrator too. How do you do onions exactly? Sounds delish!
