Pretty much any place you'd like. As long as it gets plenty of sun and isn't in a place where the water can't run off of it. When we lived in AZ, we had a huge cactus garden there. We moved back to AL and brought it back with us. We have huge beaver tail cactus! They live right through the winters with no problem. Do be mindful when planting though, they will grow tall and block the sunlight from surrounding plants
