If you don't have a vanity table, you can refinish and stain a long shelf to hang at the right height for use as a vanity. Just hang the finished shelf at the proper height and attach a few mirrors of your choice above the shelf. Position small lamps on both ends of the shelf and enjoy your vanity space. You can also attach a smaller shelf piece to one end, making an "L" shaped vanity area. The shelf can be as long or short as desired, saving floor space.
