I've never been successful with plumbing fixtures. I installed a new Water Pik hand held shower head today. I used some pipe tape before tightening the shower head (which has a pivot ball). The shower works fine but there's water dripping from where I attached the shower head to the pipe. I'm afraid to overtighten the showerhead... Any suggestions?

Your tape is on backwards. When your tighten your joint you're unscrewing your tape. Lefty loosey... Righty tighty.

We had the same problem. We tried more layers of the pipe tape. That helped but we ended up replacing the pipe that comes out of the wall for some other reason. We again used more layers of the pipe tape and all sealed just fine. You are right to not over tighten the shower head. We just love our hand held Water Pik shower head. It was worth the trouble. Good luck!

This is no help to you but I have a facecloth over mine to stop the spray of water. No handyman in my house to fix it for me! Let's hope someone tells us what will fix it.
