RE: 10th Birthday Party
You are very thoughtful. I've seen quite a few birthday parties and each one was different. 10 year old boys like to be active. Have some relay races and an obstacle course or scavenger hunt. They also like to eat. Maybe have an eating contest. Try to pick a theme so you know how to decorate and what to have on a cake or cupcakes. Ask your brother for ideas if you can't think of a theme that reflects his interests. I've seen swimming parties, bowling parties, pizza parties, jumping castles, parties in a park where the kids just play on the playground equipment and did a craft, car theme party. For my son, we had a pirate party. Kids had a relay dressing up in "pirates clothes" running to me to get a sucker "ring", running back to the team, and taking off the pirate clothes for the next kid to put on. We also had a treasure hunt, and pin the eyepatch on the pirate. Have Fun!

RE: 10th Birthday Party
If you have a house and lots of odd outdoor toys/things, you could set up an obstacle course with a "treasure hunt" at the end, with their party favors as they find the treasure by reading cards/directions as to where each one can be individually found.
Another idea we did, was to take a big ball of string and begin from a door knob, stringing from thing-to-thing across the fairly empty room, to chair legs, to nails on the wall, to drawer pulls, to books, to toys. The object is to start on one end of the room and get through the string without knocking anything down or breaking the string.
At that same party we had them to bring swim suits and a towel, a working water gun and one can of shaving cream each. Having the water hose ready near the driveway, we moved the cars to the curb, and paired the kids, so that when the whistle blew, the object was to see who could completely cover their partner first with the shaving cream, below the neck only, to prevent soap in the eyes or mouth. No touching with the hands, and be prepared for it to take a few minutes, to let there be several "tie" winners, and to have "silly string" as Prizes for the party.
The good thing about this sort of party is that it's outdoors, about right for their ages, and if you take plenty of photos, they will enjoy seeing themselves when developed and mailed in their "thank you" card.
Remember as a good old stand-by, is to buy med. round balloons, place a coin in every other one, along with a card/message/bible scripture/number for another game afterwards. (your choice), Then, thumb tack the balloons to a fence and give them a couple or three darts to toss at them. Spreak a table cloth at the bottom of the fence to catch whatever falls from their popped balloons. Have plenty so all gets a chance and a little money to take home in their pockets.
A hobo party, requiring the invitees to dress as a hobo in old clothes/ old hat/ old shoes, and to bring a clean tin can to drink their punch or root beer from. Have their favors wrapped in bandanas or bandana fabric, or use bandanas of various colors as napkins. Give out licorise string candy, frozen chocolate covered banana halves on sticks, and a rail-road track cake and/or huge PIZZA. Play kick the can, street hocky, hot potato, and pair off for games of checkers at different spots on the floor. Have red/yellow/black balloons in corner bunches filled with helium weighted down, and allow winners to take home each bunch as a prize/favor. If you serve cake, serve on aluminum pie tins to keep the theme.
Along with the Hobo party, you could have a grafetti art show, by hanging a roll of butcher paper on a fence that's long enough for each one to have their spot of about 4 feet each. You'll need 2-3 colors of tempra paint in jars, 2" brushes, and water buckets between each one to share. Remind them not to get the paper too wet for best success. When through have them to all step back about 10 feet an judge each other's work. Winner gets the whole banner to roll up and take home for a souvenier. This goes well with old hobo clothes, and the hats keep them cool while in the sun. If you have firewood, you could set some in a large circle for sitting and opening presents/ eating/ talking about how hard the hobo's life is and how many just made bad choices to leave home/ but that you know none of them would ever do that because they're wiser. God bless you. : )

RE: 10th Birthday Party
Nida, my suggestion to you would be to just plan some games that you think your brother and his friends will enjoy. For my son's birthday parties, would have relays and play musical chairs and give little prizes to the winners of the games. We would make a cake, have hot dogs or some sort of inexpensive food such as that, and punch for everyone. My son's also been to a couple of parties held in parks and those have worked out well since the kids had plenty of room to run and play. Just remember, provide some organized fun, but then let the kids have some free play, too and they should have a blast. It's very sweet of you to give your brother his first birhday party. Good luck and happy 10th birthday to your brother!
