Bud Vase Centerpieces

My mom is getting married for a third time in early March. She really likes the bud vase that the hotel will provide but we are having difficulty coming up with a way to make them into an elegant but simple (and inexpensive) centerpiece. She also wants to use carnations as her flowers. Any suggestions?

you can add a special touch like a craft stores
buy a pack of the cheap fake wedding rings and
attach 2 to a simple ribbon and hot glue the rings on
it. Or a little dove, or a little tiny cowboy hat you get the idea and it is cute, for not a lot.

How about purchasing, from Home Depot, a box of mirror tile squares. Place one under each bud vase on the table. Have different color ribbons around the vase and maybe a few wedding confetti pieces spaced around the mirrors. They you can resell the mirrors at a garage sale, or maybe return them!

If you set the vases on a small mirror, then scatter a few of the glass "gems" around it, it would look pretty. You can even get heart-shaped gems.

We have used the bud vases in my family many times for weddings. If you take lace or ribbon you can put it around the top of the vase right under the lip. You can do this in the colors of the wedding and it looks really nice. For inside the vase we have used colored gravel for aquariums in the wedding colors and then put water in and float a rose in the water. You could easily float your carnation. We have also used clear marbels on the bottom with food coloring in the water to give it color. A different time we used the gel stuff for flowers. It comes in a crystal form and you add water and it swells up. This is kind of cool if you can get it colored to match your wedding theme as well. My sister in law to be is having a tropical theme for their reception and we are thinking about putting sand and small sea shells in the bottom of the vases with a small candle. I guess my suggestion would be to use your imagination. There are soo many ways to use these vases.
