Bring a Snack When Shopping

Save money at the grocery store by taking along a small package of cut up veggies or fruit to curb your appetite when doing errands or shopping rather than going thru the drive thru or stopping at the local food court.

I have a small igloo cooler I carry on errand days. It works super for 2 bottles of flavored water, a sandwich, sliced carrots, sliced apple and whatever else I may want depnding on how long I'll be running the roads. Saves cash and its healthier than burger and fries my old standard! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.

This is a very good idea and one I try to remember, especially on garage sale days. I am bad about just stopping for a donut, coffee or some greasy bad for me snack when I could bring something better from home and save the money! I atleast try to bring a cup of ice water with so I won't be tempted to stop for a Coke!

I like the snack size packages of fruit snacks for a quick pick me up when I am out running errands. They are usually less than 100 calories, are fat free, and also provide a little sweetness, too.

If you don't have time to "pack a snack" I've found that purchasing a small bag of whole, unsweetened frozen strawberries to snack on while I shop is less expensive and lower in calories then most anything else. I can suck on one for several minutes and it's really refreshing.
