I would use Woolite or baby shampoo but get the whole piece of fabric wet so you do not leave spots.

Use shampoo and hand wash the item. Shampoo is very gentle.

RE: Cleaning Silk

Removing Stains from Silk

Summary: Silk stains can be frustrating since washing silk removes the color and dry cleaning is expensive. Instead of sending the garment out, try some home remedies to clean the spot. Just use a sponge to blot a little bit of glycerin or ammonia mixed with water onto the stain to clean it up. Good luck. (12/29/2009)

RE: Cleaning Silk

Try vinegar. I removed an underarm stain, wet it with vinegar, put in sunshine, do this every day till stain is gone. Good luck. (05/27/2010)
