I have a Dach whom I bred with a Pomeranian. The pups are a hybrid breed called Dameranians. Does anyone know a selling price for the pups or know someone who might know more info on this breed?

I have two Dameranian puppies, these are special. Both registered. Both puppies should be tiny. We are talking 3 lbs to 5 lbs. The Mom is full grown and but very young. She is 3lbs. She has royalty in her blood. The father is a stud looking little guy. 7 lbs full grown and slick haired. The kicker both pups born on V-Day. I have pictures. We have one named Koko. She is about 4 months old. I had never heard of a dameranian before. I looked up her mix online, and was amazed that there are others like her, and to think we got her for free!

I have a dameranian. He's a year old and the sweetest dog. 10 pounds full grown, and I have never seen a dog get so many compliments WHEREVER he goes. I bought him (on a whim) in a pet store in Harrisonburg, VA (Sylvia's Pets) for $500.

I have brought one, and just ordered our second pup from a breeder. They sell from 700- 1400 based on color, coat type, and size. Excellent dogs for families!

In response to Jan... it's irrelevant if the puppies are purebred, hybrids, or mutts - they are living beings multiplying faster than homes can be created.

Here's a thought - maybe if people weren't "doing it for years" (breeding pets) there wouldn't be such an over-population, thus less suffering and agony.

Jan hit it right on the head in her 'supportive' email - there's a MARKET for small animals - PROOF of breeding purely for profit.

Instead of asking for animal breeding help on a generic forum - why not be brave enough to ask the question @ a registered kennel website? I'll bet the money I've spent SAVING animals at shelters that the responses you'd receive will mimic ours.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I have 2 female dach, ryah is 4yrs and this is her 1st litter and daisy is 8yrs. She has had 3 purebred litters and is done breeding. My dogs have brought me joy for 8yrs and i would never say i have them just for profit. I don't run a puppy mill and i never have problems finding good homes for the pups. Thanks again for the positive feedback.

I for one have 2 pups myself and I breed them and im ok with it, my hubby says they have been doing this for years. If your dog has ckc certification you can go 250. plus with shots and worming in a metropolitan area. If you're out in the country, look in the local news paper for small breed dogs and go with it. I wish you luck with this and bless ya, Denise

Not to dispute that, yes, there are a lot of unwanted animals out there that need homes, people breed animals for profit everyday. If someone with a pure breed animal had asked this question people would have responded much differently. There is a market for small dog breeds that have been cross breed, older people and people in small houses and apartments love these animals.

Just do what any reputable breeder would do: provide a caring, safe, and healthy house to start out there first few weeks, and get all their shots. Post a classified ad, and screen potential buyers. I checked some ads in my area and a dog like this will sell for $150.00- $225.00.

I think you have answered your own question. I find it amazing that you named your own breed. Hybrid-not, mixed yes. I hope you find homes for them, shelters are full this time of year. You really should take them to the Shelter for their first shots, then you will see for yourself why there aren't any ads in the paper for Dameranians.

Your puppies are not a breed, they are a mix. They have no intrinsic value except to someone who wants a mixed breed dog.

If you are not a breeder or raise puppies to show (meaning to improve or stabilize a breed), it is best not to breed.

I am appalled that this post is even on Thrifty Fun and I can't believe anyone with a conscience could breed dogs for profit.

I agree with Adrien. Millions of animals are euthanized every year in shelters around the country. I worked for a vet. and we would receive 40lb dog food bags from the local shelter filled with dead puppies and kittens to cremate. Please do not breed your dog. Find loving, permanent homes for the pups you have. Thank you.

With the staggering numbers of homeless pets in this world, maybe you should reconsider further breeding...especially as it seems you're doing it for the money and not for the love of the hybrid breed (lack of knowledge on the breed causes this belief.) I went for a walk on state land just two days ago and found a dying puppy... when I finally made it to food and shelter, she'd already died. Your puppies will steal homes from puppies like her. :o(
