I would go a little darker so you distinguish one from the other. Use the same type of finish, though, probably a satin. Don't want any gloss if it's a rustic look you want.
I would use a darker shade - maybe pick up the color of one of the knots. Isn't knotty pine kind of light colored?
I have a friend who owns a log cabin house and her floors are light hickory wood and look great with the log walls. Maybe you would like the light wood stain contrast.
