Excluding Subway, the more healthy items at fast food chains are the more expensive (e.g., Grilled Chicken sandwich vs. a Big Mac). When you go, make sure to ask if you can SUBSTITUTE a healthy side item, like a salad, for french fries or potato chips.
I didn't think it was possible to eat healthily or frugally at fast food chains. If you want either of those options the best thing to do is cook your own food. Ever the so called healthy options at the fast food joints are cooked in bad fats. If you want a salad, it's cheaper to make your own.

Also remember Wendy's--they have great salads and baked potatoes. They even recently introduced a fruit salad.
