"The Other End of the Leash: Why We Do What We Do Around Dogs" by Patricia B McConnell, PH.D was an excellent book. It explains a lot of what dogs are thinking and how they perceive our behaviors.
It is excellent and chock full of information I never knew, and believe me, I have read a lot of books. I love to share great resources that would be of help in understanding our pets. It was published in 2002 so your public library probably has a copy.
