National Benefits Advisory Association Reviews |

I joined a Health Coverage Company called National Benefits Advisory Association today. Is this a Good choice? Do they pay the bills? Are they a company I can depend on? I am a single woman and am concerned with whether I made the right choice.

This beats not having any insurance, or if you have pre-existing conditions where a large insurance company will not take you on, as this pays 20-56% on different things depending on what it is, of coarse. It includes blood work, tests etc. I have talked to an underwriter there and he spent 45 minuets explaining the benefits, possibilities, pros and cons and it really is a stable insurance plan-although not MAJOR medical.
It's a good discount plan with many plans and options that are changeable and you can cancel at any time. You will not get an ID # until you have paid because it is not a MAJOR medical insurance plan. Only MAJOR medical insurance companies gives you an insurance policy # ahead of payment. Lots of people that have had things not go quite right (you cannot please everyone all of the time in any business) the way they thought it should "for lack of a better word is" ignorant, because they did not read, or did not give the company a chance to fix or make things right.
Give anything a chance and you may be surprised. This company has made all things right with anyone in the past and has actually gone out of their way for me. If you are too skeptical, you will talk your self out of it before you even give it a chance. You have nothing to loose but use it for the first time in the first 30 days and see.
Although I have not received what is covered and what is not, on a Urologist bill I incurred earlier this month of Sept 2008. I did check ahead of time with NBAA departments to see when my discount would be on these tests etc, if was going to have, and some of them were a higher % than others.
So we'll see when I get my bill but I have confidence in this. I will update after that time and even give printout of what happened at that time.

Hi my names Tammy and after signing myself and my two daughters up with NBAA it has helped us tremendously. Compared to all the other bulletins I gave a credit card not a bank draft. The girl that I talked to has very nice checked my doctors, my medications and thoroughly went through everything with me. I am very happy with NBAA.

This is in feedback to Eliza's post on 7/21/08 who works for NBAA-
What does Transamerica (who underwrites policies for America's Insurance Consultants, LLC-(AICL)), NBAA all have in common and why?
And why does AICL have the same address as NBAA in TX? IT sounds like like are all one in the same company?
Do they pay claims and doctors bills as they say they will? There is some dirogotory info about NBAA on the internet and their failure to pay claims, etc.

I unfortunately have become a negative poster. I had signed up with NBAA for ins for myself and my 2 daughters. After specifically telling them not to draft my account until my other Insurance company was cancelled (so I wasn't double drafted). They did it anyway and not for the dollar amount that was stipulated. I have called them 5 times in the last 3 days. No return calls and now I will be turning to the Attorney Generals Office and The National Insurance Commissioners Office. This drafting has really fouled up my account. If in some way this can be resolved through any information gained through this posting I would greatly appreciate it. email address is geekypeeky AT hotmail.com

Wow! I'm shocked from all this. I am an employee with the NBAA, and it seems that you all think that the company is bogus. I know there are several offices, but I've never had any problems with my customers. I have noticed, that a lot of what is being said here is very fictitious, and I CAN say that, because I do work there. But, I can also say, that I'm very sorry if you did have a bad experience with some people that work there. We are pressured very hard to get applications passed through, so, yes, I can definitely see where you would be a little turned off by someone that, themselves, are being pressured. All in all though, I truly believe that the company I work for is here to help people, though, it seems all some people care to do is complain about it.
First off, if you have a problem, then get to the BOTTOM of the problem. If someone hangs up on you when you are trying to get a refund, then you call them back. You don't sit there crying because you got hung up on. Second of all, the underwriters are TransAmerica, so even if you couldn't get a hold of the NBAA people, you could always get a hold of them. Try doing some background work before bashing what you "think" is going on.

I got a lot of marketing calls from them after I requested info on insurance or health care plans from a website. They are very agressive marketeers. I backed off when they said they were raising the price, trying to get me to commit today, I thought. I have no idea if their discount plan actually works or not, but I got turned off by their marketing style.

National Benefit Advisory Association is a discount medical plan organization with approprate licenses as required. It offers discount medical plans and limited benefit hospital insurance plans. All of the required disclosures and disclaimers are posted on the website at www.nbaabenefits.com. and in the membership guides. It appears that the negative comments posted on this website are not factual, based on ignorance and/or subect to libel.

I was trying to find health ins. I have gotten bunches of phone calls from this company, so I found this web site, and thank heavens I did. I think , this may be the same company , under a different name, that I tried years ago. When I went to use this ins. and called several of the approved providers, they didn't have a clue , what I was talking about, I tried to cancel, to no avail. I was having it directly taken out of checking. My bank said they can get the money back, but only if you know right away when they took it, so they can tell them. Once I was able to do this once, they quit trying to take it. I got lucky there, this could have gone on forever.

this is crazy, i knew something wasent right when they told me that me and my child would be fully covered for only 120 a month. I told the guy that I didnt have any money right now and I would call him back when I did. The man insisted that he could get my credit card number or my routing number now and that he would take the money out later. I knew that it was weird so I just hung up on him. What insurance company keeps on insisting your information when you said you dont have the money right that second

I received a call from them too, and fell for their line on health care. I called them back right away and tried to cancel and they said they would call me back. They did but would not give me a cancellation # for my discover card told me they already billed it to my card, and then they hung up on me. I canceled my discover card right after that. Nothing was billed on my card. They lied.

I am SO glad I found this site BEFORE I said "yes" to this company. The main issue that triggered my suspicion with them is that they wanted my money up front and THEN they would mail me the contract info. THANK YOU!

I just got a call today and called them back at 1-888-289-4224. This is actually the manager of a "Angie Jones". Angie told me her direct number is 1-817-560-9098. Hope this helps. I called the 888 number and got through. She then transferred me to Angie. I think their offer sounds a little too good to be true. Hope you get your money back. Also, I looked them up on Google and found their direct website: http://www.nbaabenefits.com/index.asp Again, hope this helps and good luck.

Always check with the Better Business Bureau before giving personal financial information (Checking or credit card info) to any Discount Health Plan. Also contact your state insurance department to find out if the company that you are thinking of doing business with is licensed or not. Have you ever looked at their web sites and wondered where they are or why they don't list a physical address? If all they have as a contact point is an 800 number, do not do business with them. Some of these companies change their 800 numbers more often than some people change their underwear. These companies like to use insurance buzz words but you don't find out that THEY PAY NOTHING until you read the fine print on the paperwork they may or may not send you. Its always best to do business with a local company that has past muster with your State insurance department. If you live in New York state, why would you want to do business with a company in Florida or Texas? Some states that require licensure or registration are Illinois, Florida, South Dakota, Montana and Nevada. Their may be more, so give your State Insurance Department a call first. Be a savy shopper and don't give your hard earned money to the the first telephone solicitor who tries to sweet talk his way into your pocketbook.

To add to my previous posting you may want to file a complaint with the BBB. You can do this at their website http://www.bbb.com You can also file a complaint with the Attorney General of the State of Texas. This company is out of Fort Worth and most of their information is listed on the BBB website when you search them under NBAA. Filing a complaint with the Attorney General will let them know that their is a company that is doing business that is not honest but will not personally get you anything. After the Attorney General receives a certain number of complaints they will investigate them and they could be shut down, fined, or possibly have a class action law suit filed against them. This may help you a some point but will also help protect others in the future and keep them from taking other peoples money.

This company called me several times with their $99 offer. I did a lot of research on them and most of the things I read were not good. There are several complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau and I have not seen anything good. They are not a member of the Better Business Bureau, but you can still look them up. From everything I have read you may as well forget about the enrollment fee you paid because they do not have a good track record of refunding money. My suggestion to you is that anytime someone calls you trying to sell you something, especially something like health coverage, you research them. Get their web site, address, phone number, and any other information they will provide. Tell them that you will do some research on them and call back if you are interested. Look the company up on the Better Business Bureau web site. http://www.bbb.com Also Google the company, you will be surprised what you can find by Googling. I hope things work out for you. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I also purchased a so called supplemental policy. But now after reading their website, they say they are not an insurance company but rather offer contract providers that discount their services! And they also say, they do not pay the provider directly? The BBB did not have many negative replies about them. Most of the ones they had were resolved. I still don't know if this is a good decision or not? It did say that the discount provider could drop out of the program at any time without notice. Naturally I found out all of this "AFTER" buying! Their website is at www.nbaabenefits.com if you go to the "About Us" portion they tell at the bottom, what they are not! I know this doesn't help much, I'm still skeptical!!! Who knows..........J
