Crispy Fried Fish

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. fish fillets
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • oil, for frying

Directions

Fillets or steaks may be fresh or frozen. If frozen, thaw and cut fish into 6 portions. Combine cream, egg, salt and pepper and dip fish into mixture. Roll in cornmeal. Bread, cereal or cracker crumbs may also be used. Place in a single layer in a fry basket. Fry in deep oil, 350 degrees F, for 3-5 minutes or until fillets are brown and flake easily when tested with a fork. Drain on absorbent paper towels. Serves 6.
