Crunchies

A tea time treat. Something to snack on with a crunch.

Ingredients:

  • 310 ml cake flour (approx. 1 1/3 cups)
  • 155 ml breakfast oats (approx. 2/3 cups)
  • 310 ml dessicated coconut (approx. 1 1/3 cups)
  • 155 ml weetbix* (approx. 2/3 cups
  • 125 ml sunflower and sesame seeds (approx. 1/2 cups)
  • 185 ml brown sugar (approx. 3/4 cup)
  • 20 ml golden syrup (approx. 1 1/2 Tbs.)
  • 125 ml butter (approx. 1/2 cups)
  • 5 ml bicarbonate of soda (approx. 1 tsp.)
  • 45-60 ml boiling water (approx. 1/8-1/4 cup)
*Weet-bix is an Australian breakfast biscuit made of pressed wheat

Directions:

Preheat oven at 150 degrees C (300 degrees F). Combine all the dry ingredients. Melt butter and syrup. Mix bicarb with water and add butter mixture. Mix all together with dry ingredients

Press in Swiss roll tin and bake for 20 minutes. Gently press down sides if it rises too much. When light brown remove from oven and cut into squares. Switch off the oven and return to oven and dry for 10 minutes. Cool and store in airtight container.

Can I use crushed cornflakes instead of weetabix? I've just run out!

To convert ml's to ounces just divide by 30. For example, 240ml/30 = 8 ounces.

How can I change the ml to ounces USA measurements. Thank you
