Canned Tomato Paste Recipe

I'm getting ready to start canning and have lost my recipe on making tomato paste. I always make the paste out of extra tomatoes so I don't have to go to the store and buy any. if anyone has one please share with me I would appreciate it.

Easy! Easy! Easy! Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 white or yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick butter

Directions

Dump pie filling in bottom of baking dish. Pour dry cake mix on top of pie filling and pat evenly. Melt stick of butter and pour evenly over top of cake mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool and eat. Especially good warm with ice cream or whipped cream. For variety, you can use other flavors of pie fillings.

Basil and Onion Grilled Veggies

Ingredients

  • 3 medium ears fresh corn, each cut into 3 pieces
  • 1 lb. medium red potatoes, quartered
  • 1 cup fresh baby carrots
  • 1 large green bell pepper, cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 1 large sweet red bell pepper, cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 3 Tbsp. minced fresh basil or 1 Tbsp. dried basil
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Directions

In a large bowl, combine 1st 9 items. Toss to coat. Place on a double thickness of heavy duty aluminum foil (about 28x28-inches). Dot with butter. Fold foil around the veggie mixture and seal tightly. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 25-30 minutes or till potatoes are tender, turning once. Serves: 6

Fresh Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 4 cups peaches (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 cups sugar (divided)
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine peaches and 1 cup sugar; set aside. Melt margarine in a 9x13 inch glass dish. Combine all remaining ingredients; mix until all lumps are gone. Pour over margarine and spoon fruit on top of batter. Bake at 325 degrees F for 50-60 minutes.

Easy Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

Mix well and pour over sweetened cherries or peaches or other fruit in season. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown. May be topped with ice cream or whipped cream to serve. Makes 6 or 8 servings.

Creamy Italian Dressing Recipe

Creamy Italian Herb Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup nonfat mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 tsp. dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Directions

Mix well all ingredients together in a small bowl. Store in refrigerator up to 1 week.

Ginger Cinnamon Fruit Dip

Ingredients

  • 1-6 oz. carton reduced fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1/4 cup whipped, reduced fat cream cheese
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Assorted Fresh Fruit

Directions

In a small bowl, combine all the items except the fresh fruit. Mix well. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Serve with fresh fruit cubes. Makes: 3/4 cup

Cracker Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 boiled egg, chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped, juice and all
  • Bacon, cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • Salad Dressing, enough to achieve desired consistency, be careful not to get too much (salad not meant to be soupy)

Directions

For a crunchy salad, mix together shortly before serving. Otherwise, crackers will become mushy.

Delicious Fried Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage, chopped
  • Real Bacon Bits
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Small onion, chopped
  • Butter

Directions

In a large skillet, place 2 Tbsp. butter, onion and cabbage. Cook on medium heat, stirring and turning often till cabbage is limp. Add amount of desired bacon bits and salt and pepper. Stir until cabbage is golden. May add more butter if necessary, to keep veggies from sticking to pan. Serve hot.
