My daughter purchased a camera last year and forgot to take the batteries out when she put it away. The batteries corroded in there. Is there anything she can clean it with or is the camera ruined?

Use an Emory board to gently scrape off what you can, then use q-tips dipped sparingly in Coke( not Pepsi or a cheap brand use Coke) this will scrub off any remaining corrosion. Wipe off any Coke with water on another q-tip. When clean use another q-tip to apply a very thin film of Vaseline to prevent further corrosion from any missed or the same thing happening from a new battery. We have done this with many electronic devices including cameras with great success.
