Orange and Nut Honey Bread
Versatile for every day as well as holiday meals.
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 cup honey
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/4 Tbsp. grated orange rind
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/4 cup sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Cream shortening and honey in bowl. Add egg and orange rind; mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with juice, mixing well after each addition. Stir in pecans. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes. Serve with cream cheese blended with honey.
