Water Only When You Need It

Instead of running the sprinklers on a timer, I only turn them on when needed. Been doing this for years. Since we have water restrictions in our city, we are limited to T and F. Every time we get a substantial rain, I write "BIG RAIN" on the calendar, to avoid watering unnecessarily. After rain day in and day out, and then a dry spell, then too much rain, it's easy to forget when it last rained and was enough to actually penetrate the yard.
