How can I remove the softener smell, like Downy, from a plastic bottle?

Or Vinegar and water. Let it sit overnight.

You can try soda and hot water and let it set overnight but the smell of Downy is VERY hard to remove. Other things can be cleared up with the soda/hot water routine.
