Bamboo Rod For Mug Storage

Save yourself several cup hooks. Instead of one hook for each cup, use two to hold a slender rod. I used a disassembled bamboo placemat, cost:$1, and it has been used before for similar needs.

Slip your cups onto the rod and set it onto the cup hooks. I saved one hook on one side of the cabinet and two on the side with four cups! The cups can still be used with very little effort of carefully lifting an end of the rod off one of the hooks and taking the cup(s) off.

My espresso cups are seldom used and take up valuable cabinet space so in hanging them for display they are no longer in the way!

Trixie (Schnoodle)

Trixie is a 2 year old Schnoodle. I needed a companion for my dog, Yogi. I got Trixie when she was 6 months old.

She likes to run and jump. Trixie is a great little runner and leaper. She would be fantastic at an agility course. She loves everyone, literally. She also has the most expressive ears I've ever seen on a dog. They're like little antennae.

Henna (Pitbull/Terrier)

Henna is a 1 1/2 year old pitbull terrier mix (we think.) We got her from a shelter in 2009. She likes to sleep, and go swimming. She is a lovable dog but can get on some people's nerves. She is also very hyper.

Snow (Maltipoo)

Snow is a one year old Maltipoo. I adopted my beautiful little dog from someone who was neglecting him. I can remember adopting him last winter. He was very cold, scared, lonely, and shy. I guess he was abused at his previous home.

My dog hid under the bed for about three days. He only came out to eat. I told him that I cared about his well being and he would have a great life with me. I help him in my arms and rocked him to sleep. When he woke up he never left my side. Today we are the best of friends. I believe that love overshadows abuse.

My dogs loves to go to the park, do tricks, watch tv, play with his toys, and greet other dogs for magical fun. I am a local pet fashion designer. I create beautiful handmade affordable clothing for small dogs. My dog Snow is a full time model for my business.

Corn Maze Birthday Party

One of my friends just had an awesome birthday party and I thought I would share it with ya'll! She picked us up in the morning and we drove to a corn maze. It was 8 acres! When we got there, we jumped on this huge pillow thing and went through the corn maize to see who could get through it first (we were in groups of 2). Then we went on a hay ride and got to pick out our own pumpkins! It was a blast! We also did a lot more and ate pizza too!

Using Oven Cleaner for Soap Scum

There are times that I have a problem with scum in my bathroom, whether it is on my sink, tub or toilet. Some of the bathroom cleaners do not work that well. Well as I was cleaning my stove with the spray on stove cleaner, I thought "Well, if it removes dried on food, couldn't it remove scum?" I gave it a go and sure enough it worked. I left it on for about 5 to 10 minutes, cleaned it off and my bathroom was left shining. Plus the fumes are not as harsh as using other cleaners such as Ajax or Clorox.

Use Old Luggage for Storage

Instead of spending money on expensive storage bins just place your linens, seasonal clothing, photo albums, extra books, etc. in your luggage and slide under the bed. Even if it won't slide under your bed at least it won't be empty and taking up precious space when you are home.

Most of us rarely travel and even when we do we won't be home to look at the items removed and placed on the bed or floor ;-)

Halloween Songs

Here are some Halloween songs from my younger days as a Mom.

I Wish I Was an Orange Jack-O-Lantern

(To the tune of "Oscar Meyer Wiener" jingle)

I wish I were an orange Jack-o-lantern,
That is what I'd really like to be.
For if I were an orange Jack-o-lantern
Then all the kids would point and look at me.

I just became an orange Jack-o-lantern
And now I am as happy as can be.
'Cause now I am an orange Jack-o-lantern,
Everyone looks and laughs at me.

I hate being an orange Jack-o-lantern,
Oh, why'd I ever want a thing like this.
'Cause now I'm not an orange Jack-o-lantern,
I'm just an orange smashed-up mess!

On the Front Porch

(To the tune of "Deck The Halls")

On the front porch there's goblins and ghosts,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Demanding treats from their hosts,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Costumed in their scary masks,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

With their goodie bags they ask,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Pumpkin Bells

(To the tune of "Jingle Bells")

Dashing through the streets
In our costumes bright and gay
To each house we go
Laughing all the way

Halloween is here,
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to trick-or-treat
And sing pumpkin carols tonight!

Oh Pumpkin bells, Pumpkin bells
Ringing loud and clear
Oh what fun great pumpkin brings
When Halloween is here.

Trade Unwanted Stuff With Friends

One person's junk is the next person's treasure.

The things you don't use around the house anymore and that wind up in a cupboard or garage, may make someone the happy owner of something they can really enjoy and/or use. And the cost is nothing.

My friends and I get together once a year and trade stuff. Anything goes; clothes, dishes and kitchenware, linens, small furniture, knick knacks, etc. I keep a box in the spare bedroom closet for those items I don't care for anymore and know that it will get moved along the next time we have our get-together.

The fun part is that we enjoy an afternoon together and come home with "new" stuff that didn't cost a cent. It's double the fun when you see something of yours being enjoyed in your friend's home.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

Fred collected lots of money from trick-or-treating and he went to the candy store to buy some chocolate.

"You should give that money to charity," said the sales girl.

Fred thought for a moment and said, "OK, I'll buy the chocolate. Then YOU can give the money to charity."

Dog Not Eating After Having Puppies

My toy yorkie just had pups on Oct 16th but they both died. Does anyone know how I can help her? She is looking for her pups and is not eating. She will eat some liver sausage, but no chicken, cottage cheese, or dog food. I always made her food using chicken breast, carrots, potatoes and brown rice, with cream of chicken soup to moisten it. She will not touch it. Any suggestions so that I can help her? I am giving her tons of attention. Could she be depressed? If so what can I do?

Getting Children To Brush Their Teeth

Does anyone else have major trouble with teeth brushing in 10 year olds? Are they truly capable of doing a good job? My son is prone to decay big time, while my daughter is not. I never really checked her brushing skills, because she never had a cavity at her check ups and still doesn't at age 18.

DS is another story. He has ADHD, but I don't know that should interfere with his skills. Is it possible he is not able to improve this skill? I've taken over because his teeth are being ruined and because of the dental bills. Having the doctor and dentist talk to him does no good.

He needs braces, but I fear his teeth will just rot. I have taken over the brushing at night recently, because he is too young to realize the impact his poor care will have on his future health. It doesn't matter what incentive or punishment we come up with. It still boils down to the same thing. He doesn't care and even if I make him do them over 5 times, they are still not satisfactory. I think he has the ability.

Paying Bills During Financial Hardship

I'm wallowing in debt right now and at a place I never thought I would ever be. Five years ago my fiance's house burned down and he lost everything and came to live with me while he tried to rebuild his life and his career. Three years ago he was hospitalized for having a parasite in his eye that caused permanent damage to his retina and forced him to quit his job while he recovered. Then two years ago I was terminated without explanation from my well-paying position and forced to take up temp work.

Since then the temp work has ended and I found a new job paying $12k less than my old job. Our medical bills are paid off but I'm sinking fast in debt as all my plans and aspirations have become a wallow of misery. My mortgage has gone up $500 since I bought it because of "miscalculated escrow". I've maxed out all my credit cards from years ago trying to make up for the lack of income and my savings has been sapped dry. I'm at my wits end, my back is against the wall, and there is no possible hope left in me.

I've negotiated smaller monthly payments with all my credit cards, I've placed my student loan into voluntary forebearance and yet when the day is done my monthly bills are still $300 more than what I take home and that's before I ever factor in how much groceries will cost us for the month. I've been doing everything possible to eat as frugal as possible but every time we get an ounce of sunshine something else goes terribly wrong to drive us back down. Is Bankruptcy my only real option?
