1-2-3-4 Biscuits

So simple and simply delicious.

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Blend the salt, flour, baking powder and shortening until crumbly with fork or pastry blender. Add milk and mix well.

Put out on well floured surface, knead 10 times. Roll out 3/4 inch thick and cut into biscuits.

For square biscuits press dough into 8x8 inch pan and cut with knife into 6 biscuits. Try different size cans for round biscuits. Cut both ends out of can.

Place with sides touching on greased pan and bake 10-12 minutes at 450 degrees F.

Variations- when ready to knead, generously spread cinnamon sugar and raisins over the dough, knead 10 times and roll out, finish same way. Frost with butter and powdered sugar frosting if desired.
