wayne:

work a generous portion of undiluted dishwashing soap into your brush and put into a plastic bag, secure tightly with a rubber band and leave for a week, then rinse thoroughly ... this will also work to clean paint out of paint brushes immediately after use

would paint thinner work? If it is latex (water-based), then of course paint thinner, a solvent, would not work. I would not know. I have thrown out a few latex-hardened brushes myself.
