Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped cooked chicken
  • 1 pkg. cream cheese softened
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped green onions or chives
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/4 tsp.salt
  • 1/2 cup seasoned croutons, crushed
  • bread dough (1 loaf portion from the freezer section or your own)
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine

Directions

Mix chicken, cream cheese, green onions (or chives), milk and salt in a medium bowl to make filling.

Divide dough into 12 portions and put 1/4 cup of filling on each. Fold dough over and pinch edges to seal tightly. Dip each packet into melted butter and then coat with crouton crumbs.

Let them rise for 15 minutes. Place on greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Source: I make these when I have a free day and freeze them for school lunches. Everyone loves them and there's no last minute scramble! I found this recipe on the OAMC website.

I have to admit - when I first saw this heading, I thought of the packet inside the whole hen--you know, the liver, gizzard, and neck! I must say this sounds like a much tastier meal!

I have done something similar for years. But I use 2 pkgs of crescent rolls with not separating into triangles but rectangles(2 triangles equal 1 rectangle) and using bread crumbs instead of the croutons. I have also used crushed durkee french fried onions. All good.
