Easy Fruit Salad

When I was a kid, this was a salad my mom made a lot! Very easy, cheap and quick!

Ingredients:

  • 1 carton Cool Whip
  • 1 small carton cottage cheese
  • 1 box gelatin (any flavor)
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple, drained

Directions:

Mix well together. Use gelatin dry as it comes from box.

Never tried this, Robin, so I will have to do that one day soon. We'll eat Jello just about any which way. Thank you for a new idea.

Easy Low-Fat Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 large can peaches
  • 1 large can pears
  • 1 large can fruit cocktail
  • 1 small can mandarin oranges
  • 1 (3 oz.) box vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 4 medium apples, chopped
  • 2 cups seedless grapes
  • 1/4 cup Tang drink mix
  • 4 medium bananas, sliced

Directions:

Drain canned fruit, reserving juice in large bowl. Add pudding mix to reserved juice; stir until thickened. Combine drained fruit, apples and grapes in large bowl. Sprinkle Tang over fruit mixture; stir gently. Add to pudding mixture; mix well. Chill. Add bananas just before serving.

  • 1 can mixed fruit (16oz.)
  • 1 can mandarin oranges (small can)
  • 7 oz. jar apricot-tapioca baby food
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 2 bananas

Directions

Drain pineapple chunks, mixed fruit and oranges. Add baby food and marshmallows to fruit. Chill. Slice bananas and add just before serving.

Baby food? They still make tapioca baby food? Blech! I am so surprised at what is "ok" to feed babies these days! I nanny for a 16 month old and when she finally started eating, her mom wanted me to feed her Apricot Dessert, at 9 months! Needless to say, I left that container in the bag!

Hmmm, this struck a nerve! I know some people that EAT baby food, to this day! Ewwww! (06/14/2007)

One of my favorite salads.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can fruit cocktail, drained
  • miniature marshmallows
  • 2 bananas, diced
  • 1 can peach pie filling

Directions:

Mix and keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
