Homemade Chicken Coop

I have had over 10,000 board feet of oak, maple and poplar cut out of downed and fallen trees, why waste good wood. I used some of them to make furniture.

Here is a picture of a chicken coop that I made from some too. I am an author and I used this picture in one of my writings.

Elly (Great Dane)

Elly is a 7 year old Great Dane. She was a rescue. We've had her for 4 years. She likes to tease the cow, and sit on people laps.

She wasn't treated too nice by her former owners so she is sometimes scared. But she sure is spoiled rotten now. She is sleeping on HER love seat.

Isabella is a 1 year old Siamese mix. Isabella and her sister Polly were given to me by a co-worker. Bella loves to chase bugs, run through the garden and cuddle.

Today's Tips:

Using Powdered Cleanser

Here is a tip for when you are using powdered cleanser (like Comet) for your bathroom. When you first open it and peel the tape off the holes, just move the tape over and only have 2-3 holes showing. You never need as much cleanser as it says and this helps so you don't over do it by accident

Link: Stop Phone Book Delivery

YellowPagesGoesGreen.org is the Movement Against Unsolicited Phone Book Delivery. IF YOU NEED A BOOK, SIMPLY CALL AND ORDER ONE. I have signed up to remove my home or office from receiving the telephone directories.

What a great tip, especially now that I see scads of phone books sitting under mailboxes all over the place. Most have been there for weeks already, all wet from the rain.

Look For New Items At Garage Sales

Going to garage sales has always been a hobby of mine. Something that is very cost effective is when people have new items that have never been used. It might not be something that I particularly use but get it and put it away for gift giving throughout the year. Then if there's an unexpected house warming or birthday party, you have a gift already to go.

Even if a friend is having a hard day, their face lights up with a little surprise that maybe cost me .50 (but they don't know that). I have also found beautiful gift bags and paper for wrapping. It saves money and is convenient when you need it.

Keeping Track of Appointments

While I have a big calendar book and a smaller one in my purse, I need a more constant reminder of my medical appointments. What I do now is write them with day, date, time, doctor's name and phone number on a sheet of paper and tape it to side of computer near the front edge. I rewrite the list as necessary. They could also be written on a dry erase board attached to front or side of refrigerator.

Add Rocks to Your Desk's Top

I had some polished stones and was playing around with Super Glue and I glued a couple of stones onto the desk at the end so the things would not fall off. I did the same thing by gluing a nickel on the TV Stand, partly as a joke, but it worked so well I left it on.

Use Artificial Bouquets as Hair Accessories

This is a alternative to buying hair accessories that typically cost $3 and up! You know those bouquets that sell for 99 cents at the dollar stores or Wal-Mart? You can purchase them and use them as hair accessories! You will get around 5-6 flowers for 99 cents. You will need a large bobby pin to secure the flower in your hair.

Getting Rid of Warts

I am 17 years old. Recently when I went and stayed with my best friend. I noticed that I started getting a wart on my big toe. So of course I picked at it. She is the only person I've been around that has warts, but she said hers were "viral".

I've tried the whole 9 yards with the freeze off product; it doesn't work. I now have that one on my big toe, I have another on my 3rd toe and also one between my big and second toe. I believe they're seed warts, but I'm not sure. I want to get rid of them. Help me, please. They are so annoying, big time. If you have any suggestions I would really like to know. Thanks.

Ashley.

Sweet 16 Masquerade Party

My birthday's October 26 and since it's pretty close to Halloween, I wanted some type of costume party. But I'm not really into the Halloween stuff, and I wanted it somewhat formal. So I decided a formal Masquerade Ball would be a lot of fun.

The only thing I did find so far was my colors. I found a website that had a few color suggestions and I liked hot pink, lime green, and silver. I had read something about a neon Masquerade, but it'd be kind of hard to find supplies to match.

My mom and I are planning my Sweet 16 together this summer and we think we've found a place, but I'm still looking for maybe a cheaper place so I could have more for the actual party.

I also have no idea what to do for entertainment. Of course a DJ, but I'm worried that won't occupy everyone for the whole time. I'm totally stuck on ideas for party favors, although I did find a pretty good website today that helped a little bit. Any ideas you have would be a great help.

Teaching a Dog Not to Bark

I adopted a Pomeranian dog about 1 1/2 yrs ago. She is going to be 11 years old in November. She is wonderful, friendly, playful, and protective.

My problem is when she barks it's very shrill and my cat is going to loose it one of these days. I had this cat for 5 years before the dog became part of the family. I think she has accepted this change very well, except for the barking which the pom only does at certain times, but it is "shrill". Does anyone have any suggestions barring debarking which my Vet won't do anyway? Here is a pic of my little part time barker.

Litter Box Training a Bunny

I just got a dwarf bunny last week. How long does it usually take for them to get used to a new home? He's peed on my couch a few times which I remedied by putting a doubled up sheet on it. He's pooped in many places, although the person said it's litter boxed trained. I put the little litter box that he has in his cage in the private corner of the living room.

Any suggestions on how to have him "go" in the appropriate place? I would appreciate any help that you might be able to give me.

Making a Sweet Sixteen Candle Ceremony Display

I want to make a Sweet Sixteen Candle Ceremony display. I would like to use 4, 6, 8, and 10 inch by 2 inch thick candles. My idea is to space the candle out on a round board, we want a beach theme, so we would cover with sand and hibiscus flowers and shells. Any ideas on how to put it together so it would look somewhat like a sandcastle?

Skin Care For Less
By Kelly Ann Butterbaugh

Magazines and television today are overflowing with advertisements for skin care products, expensive skin care products. In a society focused on looking perfect and young, this is expected. However, while I'll never look like the glamorous women I see on TV, I can keep a tight skin regimen for much less than the ads on TV advertise.
