Most bulbs are best transplanted or divided after flowering has stopped and the foliage has progressed to a point where it looks dead and scraggly.

In zone 4 (upstate NY) it is late summer / fall.

In the south, it is the fall.

Now is the time in southern OHIO region. Do a google search about transplanting/lifting iris bulbs in your area. Good luck!
