Cute and Fun Ways to Organize Your Room |
|
|
I need help organizing my room! I have a lot of stuff and I need it all. I have little storage but a lot of clothes. I have tried every organizing tip I have heard, like throwing away or getting rid of stuff I don't need. I do it every month and my room is still messy and unorganized. I can never find anything.
I have a small desk with 3 large and deep shelves, a 6 foot long and 4 feet wide closet, 4 shelves, a night stand with no shelves or drawers (just a big opening), a 3 drawer dresser and 3 drawers underneath my bed. I would like the organizing ideas to be cute and fun.
Thanks, help from michigan

I have a huge room and an outrageous amount of clothes and so many things. I took everything, put it in bins and it is still so hard to get it finished. I don't know else I can do to make this easier for me. I don't really have very much storage space either which I need to get but I have to many things you cant even imagine. PLEASE HELP ME
Editor's Note: The best thing to do is get rid of a lot of your stuff. When the stuff you have gets to be a big problem, it's time to down size. Look at each item, whether you have worn it or used it in the last year, if not, get rid of it.

This is not really cleaning, but I take any junk around my room (you know, small things) and I put them in shoe boxes and I put the shoe boxes under my bed. Sometimes i write on the lid whats inside so I can take a box and check the list to see if what I want is inside.

One thing I have learned is that clothes are one of the main problems people have in their bedrooms. So here are some tips:
1. If you haven't worn it then you probably aint gonna wear it. So put it in the give away pile.
2. If it doesn't fit you then don't save it and say ill lose weight and be able to wear it. Cause you probably won't. Put it in the give away pile also.
3. Don't just throw your clothes on the floor when you get something out and don't wear it. Hang it back up. And when you take your clothes off at the end of the day either hang them up or if dirty put in a dirty clothes basket.
4. Have a dirty clothes basket in your room. Take it to the laundry one once or twice a week. However much you need to.
Hope this helps!

My room is very messy! I have a lot of Junk I want to keep too! So, I just put everything in one big pile on my bed...then i sort the big pile into three smaller piles:
Pile 1: Stuff I don't want anymore Pile 2: Stuff that don't belong in my room Pile 3: Stuff I want to keep
So, after you are done with that, you try and get rid of Pile 1 by putting all that stuff in that pile into a Bin/basket and tell your Parent[s] that you don't want that stuff.
After that, you work on pile 2. To do that, you pick up an idem and find out where that idem really belongs. Example: Dirty Dishes go in the kitchen, Trash go in the Recycling Bin or Trash Can, something may go in the bathroom or sister's or Brother's room, etc!
Then, Pile 3! The last pile at last! You just have to put the books on a shelf, Clothes in a dresser/closet, Stuffed animals can go on your bed or boxed up in your closet, and Nick-Knacks and other stuff can go on Shelves for Display or boxed-up and put away some where! The remaining stuff, that would be Trash!

Hey, I know exactly what you are going through. I feel like I have so much stuff that it won't all fit in my room, but I need to keep most of it. Even though I'm sure you've heard some of these here's a list of my best tips: 1.) First of all, get rid of clothes or things you don't need. They'll just get in the way as you organize everything else. 2.) Put all of your winter clothes away for the summer and vice versa. This will save you closet space.
3.) Hang up an over-the-door purse rack to keep the space in your closet open. Store your shoes either under your bed or in another over-the-door rack.
4.) If you have books in your room, organize them by color on your desk shelves. The books make your works space look serious while the color gives the area some pop. 5.) For your nightstand, shelves, and dresser-top display things like picture frames, trinkets, trophies, etc. Keep things like CDs, electronics, and other non-decorative things stored in your closet in neat, labeled bins. That way you can still find them with easy access, but they won't take up your surface space in your room. That area is for decorating!
6.) Finally, personalize your room as much as possible. If you need some color on your walls, buy a couple blank canvases at a craft store and paint them to match your room. Hang wood letters spelling out your name with ribbon above your dresser or bed. That serves as a dramatic center for the room. Write your name on home-made posters, on your organizing bins, tack it up on cork boards.. Do anything to make your room your own. Good Luck, Chelsea

My parents say- just clean it! I know how you feel, though even cranking up some tunes can get boring. Instead, I have a reward. if you want, go out and get yourself a reward, and make a game to go along. If you make a list of everything in your room, not like every little detail, but clothes, writing utensils, paper, that stuff, and then as you clean, write "two points" or whatever next to it. In the end, add up your points, and give yourself that many of the prize, whether the prize is candies or even organizing boxes and baskets, remember, cleaning can't always be fun, but it sure is worth it! This way you can pass time, and your parents wont yell at you for having it be messy. Good luck!

I have the same problem, but the worst part is my family isn't the wealthiest family on the block, if ya know what I mean. So I have to make my room look cute by just making things look good myself, if your walls are dull and you can't paint them, cut out picture from magazines and put them on your wall. Get rid of anything you haven't used or worn in the last 4 or 5 months, unless its absolutely important to you. Rearrange your furniture, invite a friend to help, that way it will be fun. Put on music, do anything to get you in the mood for it.

Every year do a major clean. Empty the room completely clean every thing, sort everything and get new boxes and organizing tools from the department store. Play music too, it really does help the time pass. It takes a while but it's worth it then do smaller cleans throughout the year. I do it every December. It's always feels nice to start a new year with a clean room.

I used to have that problem. First you ask your parents if you can go to target or like k mart and buy a lot of cute boxes small to big. then invite some of your good friends to come and help you reorganize your room and decorate it. This is a fun and social way to do things and I hope it work. ps. your can buy a organizer at target for your closet witch really helped my room. I mean it! :) hope it works :)))

I have the same problem! I am constantly organizing but my room is never organized! Plus, during the week, I don't have enough time to keep up with the mess that builds up! Anyway, I have some tips. First, I would suggest rearranging your closet often so that stuff never builds up in piles without you knowing. Also, set off specific areas of your room for homework stuff, music stuff, clothing stuff, jewelry, etc. Use creative boxes for things. Put pencils in jars, and repaint old things for new purposes.

You should act as if you were moving and put your stuff in (Decorated) boxes. Also put on some music. Do one thing at a time or you'll just have a bigger mess. Hope this helps!

Hi! I'm 13 and I've had the same problem, but here's some ideas that I have used: *As everybody has said, baskets are a huge help, so try putting some baskets on your shelf to store small items, books, and journals. *For jewelry, a great way to store it in small spaces is to get a couple colored ice cube trays and put a necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings in each hole. *You can seperate out your summer and winter clothes by putting your winter clothes in a bin when it is summer, or vise versa. Then you can store the bin of clothes in your attic or basement. *A great way to store shoes in small spaces is to get an over the door shoe hanger and hang it on the inside of your closet door. If you go on www.target.com there are some really great over the door shoe hangers for less than $15. *For hanging purses, there is also an over the door purse rack that maybe you can put on the inside of your bedroom door. These are available at the same site. *for your desk, store pens and pencils in a cup or a flower pot. For extra small stuff, get a cute coloful cereal-sized bowl and store it in there. Good luck with your room!

I had the exact same problem! What I did is I took a bunch of my stuff and put it into my attic, that way if I ever need any of it I can just go in the attic and get it out! Then I put shelves up behind my clothes in my closet to put stuffed animals, books, etc. on. I rearranged my room to where I can have lots of room for other storage if needed. I also made sure I always clean up my room! Hope This Helps!

You should just leave it there and see what your parents say! HEHE I am just kidding I think that the idea on where you put them in boxes and then stack them up on top on each other to create a look was really cute. But I am moving now and I just threw away A BUNCH of stuff. So I think that you should go through your stuff one more time and see if there is anything else you can get rid of and if not then go and buy a lot of boxes, decorate them, put your stuff in them and then stack them on top of each other to make it look cute! :-P

Well I'm having the same problem. I'm moving soon and I'm really stressed because I have never moved before. So what I suggest for people that are moving and want to organize is write a list of all you things and pack one thing every day to make it easier.

1. Folding your clothes up and putting them in your draws, gives you more room to put lots more clothes in, than just throwing clothes in. 2. Get little cute boxes, and put your shoes in them, 3. As for belts and scarfs, get a basket and put them in it and then just place the basket in your closet. 4. For necklaces, braclets, rings, and earrings, buy those small boxes with loads of draws. They are not that expensive and they look great in your room! 5. If you have too much clothes get a big plastic bag and put your winter (or summer) clothes in it and keep them in your attic. :D Anyway i hope these tip have helped you! Hannah_xoh_17

What a great kid you are for wanting to organize your bedroom! My 13 year old daughter and I suggest the following ideas for your domain -
3 large and deep shelves: small baskets or crates to hold your CDs, books, purses, sport equipment, school supplies, or other large items 6 foot long and 4 feet wide closet: try goggling closet organizers to get some ideas. Make sure to include plenty of shoes storage. 4 shelves: depending on the depth of the shelves, this might be a good idea to place your beauty supplies, jewelry, small items (in baskets of course) Night stand: maybe a basket to hold your books or extra linens 3 drawer dresser: sounds like a good place to put your clothes 3 drawers underneath my bed: good place to put your linens or clothes
You can get either baskets or crates in either plastic or wicker (try dollar stores, yard sales, thrift stores, etc). Try to get all of your organizers to match your room so the colors wont be overwhelming. If your baskets dont match, you can spray paint them to match. Make sure to do this outside with newspaper on the ground so the fumes wont make you ill. Your parents will have to buy the spray paint since you are not an adult. You can also try hanging almost of your clothes to free up drawer space. Try dividing your clothes in separate areas on the rod; one spot could be for skirts, then pants, then your shirts, then sweaters, etc. Are their other areas you could store your supplies? We store our art and school supplies in a cabinet in the kitchen instead of my daughters bedroom. Her linens are stored in the hall closet. Good luck!

Boxes laid on their sides are great for keeping your room neat, but stll being able to get at everything easily and quickly. Whenever you or your parents receive something in a sturdy box, either cover the inside & outside of the box in wrapping paper or paint the inside and outside. As you get more, stack them in fun ways - you'll have lots of great cubbies of different sizes and no more complaints from the parents about a messy room!

There are hangers that hold 5 or 6 pairs of pants or skirts which should save some closet space. For all of the little things you can get a shelf system and use baskets on the shelves to hold things, add a curtain if you want to hide the baskets. cookwie is right, everything should have a home, if it doesn't then it is clutter. http://www.FLYlady.com has some great ideas on how to handle clutter.

Cute boxes or whatever would keep it from looking cluttered. Look around at garage sales and get some that are covered and you could stack them. Could you hang a coordinating curtain of some kind over the front of your nightstand so you could use it for unseen storage? Or just put some cute boxes/baskets there to hold things. Not real original ideas I have, but hope you find a solution that works for you.

If you put something back after you take it out and decide not to use it, you will never create any mess.
Something they tell executives when having to go through their mail is to do something useful with the letter while it is still in the hand. The minute you put it down, you create piles.
Don't buy any more clothing until you grow!
