A generic just became available for the brand name Allegra. The generic name is Fexofenadine and it comes in the 30mg, 60mg and 180mg. I believe it is manufactured by Teva. So if you are taking Allegra you might speak to your pharmacist about having it filled with the generic equivalent! Great news for the pocketbook.

Here in PA we have a few generics for Claritin. They have the same active ingredients in the same amounts, for a fraction of the price of the brand. Check around for it. We've found it at drug stores, places like Wal-Mart & even Aldi has their brand!

You could still save big if you have prescription drug coverage & get the generic. Usually you pay less out of pocket for the generics when using your plan. By law here in PA the pharmacy must dispense the less expensive generic if available.

Just realize that the savings won't kick in for a few months. I had mine refilled recently and got the generic and only saved 4 dollars but the pharmacy
said it takes at least 3 months before it gets cheaper.

This is good information. I wish they would make it an OTC drug like Claritin.
