Sparkle (Florida White Rabbit)

Here is Sparkle playing with the family and watching the dogs watch her. She is so adorable, our daughter rescued her from the local animal shelter. Sparkle is very affectionate and loves to be stroked and told how pretty she is.

I found out that my pet rabbit loves to play with those wooden blocks/bells bird toys that are on a chain. She is a Florida White rabbit, my favorite breed. She swats at the bells all the time. Also she likes plastic balls to bat around. I wanted to post this because I never knew rabbits liked toys like these. We just adopted her from the animal shelter. She is very loving and affectionate.

Contests:

These contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners and 1 photo winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!

Today's Tips:

Throw Away Old Makeup

Even in this tough economy, do not hold on to old make up. Many of us have old cosmetics filling up the shelves of our bathroom. Did you know that with repeated use, bacteria can grow in your make up and that eye make up is most at risk. Don't risk an eye infection on an old eyeliner.

Any makeup applied to the skin can actually cause breakouts or other skin problems if it's past due. Does the make up have a strange odor? Has it dried up? These are indicators to toss it. Below is a list you may find helpful.

  • Oil-Free Foundation: 1 year
  • Cream or Compact Foundation: 18 months
  • Concealer: 12-18 months
  • Powder: 2 years
  • Blush and Bronzer: 2 years
  • Cream Blush: 12 - 18 months
  • Powder Eye shadow: 2 years
  • Cream Eye shadow: 12 - 18 months
  • Eyeliner: 2 years
  • Liquid eyeliner: 3 - 6 months
  • Mascara: 3 months
  • Lipstick: 2 years
  • Lip liner: 2 years
  • Lip gloss: 18 - 24 months
  • Nail Color: 1 year

Saving a Water Logged Cell Phone

If you ever drop your cell phone in water, do not turn it on. You may be able to save it if you immediately remove the battery and the SIM card. Place all the pieces in a bowl of dry rice for 48 to 72 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture and the phone may work like new.

A+D Ointment for Dry Feet

I suffer from dry, cracked heels. I have tried many lotions and creams to soften and moisturize my feet over the years. When my mother-in-law suggested A+D Ointment for my daughter's dry lips, I had an "Ah Ha" moment and tried it on my heels after my shower. By the next day they were noticeably softer! Two months later, they are even softer and definitely not dry. Thanks, Mom!

Magic Eraser to Remove Paint Marks on a Truck

I hit a yellow pole with my brand new truck and had no idea how to get the yellow paint off. I went online and someone suggested using the Magic Eraser. It worked awesome, without ruining my paint job. I still have a couple of marks from the pole however ALL of the paint came off without too much elbow grease.

Plastic Lids Work as Small Dry Eraser Boards

Margarine or butter container lids make great dry erase boards. You can use washable markers on them or dry erase markers on them. I cut the rim off of the top of the margarine container lid, made a hole with an icepick and then put a twistie tie through the hole and then clothes pinned it to the kitchen blinds. I'll probably cut the next one into a square and put it on the bedroom or front door for messages. I may or may not decorate them later.

Reinstalling F2 and F12 Options in Bios

I have a Dell Dimension computer E310 with Windows XP Media center. After I turn on the computer, the monitor shows on the top right corner F2 (setup) and F12 (boot). If you want to get Bios F2 has to be pressed on the keyboard to
get into Bios setup. It is the same with F12 if you want to boot your computer with D drive or diskettes.

I removed the F2 and F12 from Bios because my kids were fooling around with
the Bios setup. Dell will not give me support because my computer is not
under warranty anymore. Normally, anyone can get Bios setup by pressing "Delete" but with Dell I cannot make do it and so it needs to be re-stalled in Bios.
