Using Stale Bread

With only two of us now at our house, bread gets stale before we eat it all. You know you can make bread pudding out of it. Also, it makes great stuffing.

You can also put stale bread in the freezer and take out what you need for a meal and make garlic bread out of it. Just spread butter on it and sprinkle with garlic salt, then put it under broiler until it is browned like you like it. That's it. You can also do this with rolls.

It's great with spaghetti, chili, or whatever you want. I never have to throw away bread anymore. We enjoy the garlic bread with our meals. You can take out only the amount of bread you need each time you want garlic bread. So good and easy!

We prevent the stale bread by putting 4-5 slices in a quart freezer bag and freezing the bread. It is very easy to take individual slices out. They thaw quickly on a counter or can be zapped a few seconds in the microwave or you can stick directly into a toaster.

I put the filled quart freezer bags inside a gallon one to prevent freezer burn and take a smaller bag out at a time.
