Here is a photo of a grapevine basket that I had placed in our garage. I was going to use it for something else. What a surprise to find that a mother bird decided to use it to build her nest! This really surprised my hubby and me since there is so much activity in our garage. I hope that you can see that there are at least two eggs in the nest and the mother bird has over compensated the size of the nest and has a very small opening for her to go in and out. We are trying to steer clear of the basket in hopes that the bird will continue to sit on the nest and have babies soon. I will definitely put the basket up in a tree once the babies are finished using it so that it can be used again. Source: Me: Amazed once again at the wonders of wildlife! To make an heirloom picture, I bought a large frame from a garage sale, a doily that was in my family and rather fragile, and a sheet of blue (you can use any color, that matches your decor) and mount the doily (hanky, etc) and you have a beautiful memory to hang on your wall. This is a tip regarding storage of items. When our luggage is no longer usable for travel (broken wheel, ripped pocket, etc., I turn the suitcase into a storage container for seasonal items, extra blankets and holiday linens. It keeps the items clean and ready for future use. Boxes can give off color damage, and plastic tears easily so this is a great way to store things. I use an airline luggage tag to identify what items are stored in each suitcase. Works for me! By Kathleen from Fort Collins, CO Contest Contender!

Rewash Unmatched Socks to Find Mates I do a lot of laundry. When I discover the unmatched socks, they go into a small basket nearby. The next time I run the white load through (or the color load for colored socks), I add the mismatched socks to it. Usually the mate will be found this way, and it isn't another chore of going through a large amount of unmatched socks. By Chicerena from Fresno, CA Contest Contender!

Be Wary Of Flea Medication Allergies Please test your cat for allergies to flea meds by applying only one drop at a time. Flea meds almost killed my cat. I've been up all night, every hour force-feeding water to my cat. He was so sick, he went 48 hours without eating or drinking anything and had a fever after I applied the recommended dosage of "ADVANTAGE" flea drops to his neck (which I bought at the vet). Thankfully today, he's feeling much better and is eating and drinking again. What a scare that was! I've since heard many stories of seizures and foaming at the mouth in cats with allergies or sensitivities. My friend tried just one 1 drop and his cat started foaming at the mouth! I believe the dosage on these "once monthly" flea drops (for the back of the neck) should read: Apply half now then the other half in 2 weeks. This way their little bodies won't be overwhelmed with so much toxic poison at once! My cat is allergic to the "natural" flea drops (they contain strong Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils) so next time I will try just one drop of "Revolution" (a different brand) and if he has no reaction after 24 hours, I'll only apply half the dose and the other half 2 weeks later! After calling my Vet, they say these products can shut down their organs (like kidneys and liver) and also cause seizures in many cats. I wonder why you don't hear about this until it happens to your cat? I hate to give him anything toxic like this, but I'm extremely allergic to fleas. By Cyinda from near Seattle Contest Contender!

When eating out at fast food restaurants, we are usually given too many napkins that end up in the trash. Now we fold them up and take them with us. They end up in the car for kid clean up, in the purse for emergencies, on the vanity for makeup removal, in the kitchen as a substitute for paper towels or on the table as - surprise - napkins. I'm sure you can come up with lots of places to use these leftover napkins. We never let them go to waste. Source: We have been doing this for several years now. A saltwater boat is so very difficult, and expensive, to keep clean. I was using SoftScrub to clean my bay boat, but ran out one day. I had a choice as to whether I should go to the store and buy more, or make some myself. I took the same amounts of powdered Tide and bleach and mixed them in the same bottle that I'd had the SoftScrub in. It works like a champ. It turns the boat white as snow. Keeping Clothes from Getting Wrinkled Looking for a way to keep your hanging clothes from getting wrinkled? I have the solution. And best of all it's easy and it's free. When hanging my clothes in my closet on the wire rack, instead of hanging them on the bottom bar where the clothes get all scrunched up together, I hang them on the top bar, placing one hanger in the space between each of the cross bars. This keeps them separated just enough so they don't get scrunched, and therefore keeping the clothes from getting wrinkled. When I take something off the hanger, I hang the empty hanger on the bottom shelf toward the front of the closet. Every few days I take all the empty hangers and transfer them to the laundry room to be handy when I'm taking clothes out of the dryer. By Cricketnc from Parkton, NC Contest Contender!

Rate It: I'm starting my planning early for my mother's 75th birthday party in May, 2013. I'm having a time deciding what to do. My daughter suggested whatever theme we go with, we ought to use her birthstone color which is emerald. My sisters and I thought of a masquerade of some sort. We don't want it to be formal, but we don't want it to be jeans and a tee either. The party definitely has to be fun, lively, silly (almost), yet unique. Any ideas? Rate It: Could someone please help me find a way to clean off the grilled-on grease that coats the inside of my propane barbecue grill? I believe the body is aluminum. Currently, I am using a strong solution of Boraxo and washing soda. This cuts the grime, but I'm having to baby it along and it takes quite a while. At least, this mixture does not bother the paint. Rate It: Name Ideas for a Pet Food Pantry My husband and I are starting a non-profit pet food pantry. It essentially supplies supplemental pet food to low/no income people, as a way to help keep pets from ending up in the shelters. There is another pet pantry about an hour away that has been a great relief for people in need. Now, we are trying to think of a creative name for it. We'd like to (somehow) include our rescue dog's name, Chance. He was a shelter dog that had been picked up off of the streets, very hungry. He is very special to us, and I hate to think that other pets out there might be going hungry. Any advice regarding a pantry name, especially with his name in it, would be greatly appreciated. Rate It: Will Filing for Bankruptcy Affect a Judgment? I have a friend who is having financial problems. They started a long time ago and have escalated since a recent divorce. He really needs help and I cannot advise him. He has some old credit card debt that he is trying to pay off and one company has a judgment against him. He only owns a small home, an old van, and very little else. Someone has told hm to file bankruptcy, but his largest debt ($8 or $9,000.00) is the one that has a judgment. I do not believe that he can remove this with a bankruptcy. Can someone please tell me if a bankruptcy would affect a judgment? Rate It: Ingredients for Homemade Milk Paint Can anyone tell me where to buy "hydrated lime" Borax and "lime-proof pigments" in Baltimore City, Maryland? We want to make our own Milk Paint. We have googled our brains out trying to locate the basic ingredients. We are not going to purchase the prepackaged types! Home Depot type stores can't tell me which type of lime is "hydrated". Lawn and garden folks can't answer either. We need plain Borax. Not Boraxo because that has detergent surfactants in it. Where or how can we get our hands on some? Lastly, what in the devil are "lime-proof pigments" for this paint? Businesses who sell these can't tell me either! Please help alleviate this torture. We are stumped! Also, if you have an exterior paint recipe you have made and really liked how it turned out, please tell us! Thanks ahead of time.
