Okay here it goes... I've posting on this website througout planning my party. I already have my ideas snd games (thanks to skbeal & trish). I also have already passed out the invitations but earlier today my mom and I got in an argument and she got really upset (I was talking back). She told me... "THATS IT, NO PARTY!". I'm in a rut and I need to know how to earn my party back!!!

Pease please,

Haley

Apologize and just be as pleasant as possible. Don't try and suck up. Us moms know a suck up as quick as it starts and I hate it if I feel my kid was sucking up just to get their way. They could soften me up by being nice and pleasant but sincere at the same time. And if she still won't let you have your party, think about the fight and after she's not mad anymore, ask her if ya'll can talk. Ask her what it was you did or said that made her the maddest. You'll then find out what not to do in the future.

I would tell her that you are so sorry and ask her what you can do to make it up for her even if you don't like what she tells you to do. So just do it, give her a hug, and mean it because she will now if you don't and tell her that you love her.

I thought at first this was MY haley writing this and I thought..what? I wouldn't cancel a party out of anger, then read the date and thought ok...she isn't the same Haley. I just came on to wonder how it worked out after all this time.

Hey I'm 13 too and I would hate 4 my mom 2 cancel my bday! So just be really sweet around the house help clean up and calmly apologize 2 her saying that u r sorry and u were being immature or something (not saying u actually were). Be a real sweet heart and do all you can to help!

One of the girls that replied, told you to lie to your mom by saying you were sick. Don't ever lie. It's wrong and it says to your mom that you don't respect her and you think she is stupid enough to believe your lies.

Although I disagree with your mom, this is the wrong punishment to give you; to take away a birthday party that's already been planned and invitations sent. But, you have to obey your parents. And, hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson and will not be rude to your mom ever again.

When your mom next goes out you stay in the house pretend you don't feel well and you're going to bed. As soon as shes out of sight then make a nice surprise. I made a chocolate cake with cream. I also write a note saying I'm sorry I shouldn't of done what I did. I promise I will never do it again and when shes back get in bed and pretend you have been there the whole time until she notices. She will be so thankful that she will let you have your party.
I hope this works for you. Jordan x

p.s. Good luck

I am not sure how your mom is but you could do something nice to show that you appreciate everything that she has done for you. Don't say sorry constantly just say once or twice also be the best you can be with her try not to get in fights no matter how hard it is so she can see that you are really trying. I hope everything goes well. Write back.

Hi Haley. Try doing things around the house for your mom. Let her know that your sorry about talking back. This usually works with my mom. Good Luck.

Hi, I have just agreed with my mum what to do for my thirteenth. We are going out for dinner at this brill restaurant. The great thing is my mum thinks it is a safe enough to let us stay there by ourselves for the evening. I know my friends will enjoy it because it is a great atmosphere and even has a DJ! If you want to do something memorable, fun yet relativley cheap, go to a restaurant - i can guarantee that it won't be boring!!

As for the original post - if you get in a row and your party gets banned - just be on your bestest behaviour and repeatedly say you are sorry. Do as many chores as possible, keep your head down and don't mention the party.
Anyway, if you have already sent out the invites, chances are your mum is just saying that because she got angry, and she won't make you tell your friends it's off. Then again, I don't know everyone's mums and I haven't tested out this theory!

Hope this helped,
Mani

Tell your mom you're really sorry and ask her if there is anything u can help with even if it means missing something fun that u could do another time. Not having a 13th birthday party would stink, so be your mom's little angel for a little bit

Write her a lettter saying your really sorry and wish you hadn't said it. Don't mention your party and buy her some chocolates and do lots of chores for her. Make her breakfast in bed and just be really nice. Hopefully she will realise your sorry and let you have your party back=]
Happy 13th birthday

hah. i get into a lot of trouble with my parents. what i would suggest would be:

first dont talk to her for a while and go into your room and think about what you've done. then go up to you mom and say how sorry you are, and what this party means to you. you have to actually have PROOF you are sorry.. im Indian, and do you know HOW STRICT indian parents are... sigh. so i think this will work out for you!

good luck. and i hope you have a great party...

hey
i talk back a lot and get into a lot of trouble
what usually works is if you just tell your mom how much it means to you after all it IS your 13th birthday!!!!
That's a HUGE day!!!!
hope it works out!!

Hey,
I will be turning 13 in December so yes its a long time from now but me and my sister/BFF is wanting to have a party together. Well heres the thing this will be the first time we have really hot boys at our B-day party (besides our close relatives and friends) and we don't want to mess things up. We have some ideas of having it at my sisters house and it is two storys. Her parents just had it built so it will be nice. Her momma was thinking that like we could have a dress up party with a lot of stuff like dress up. Me and my sister was thinking about there being a christmas/13th b-day party. It would be cool. We would have snow and christmas trees and all sorts of things. We just need help should we go all fancy and get all pretty fany dresses? Please Help!!!!!

ok, so i'm really rich & i'm turning 13 and obviously i'm gonna have a party..but my mom said it shouldnt be too extravagant because well that would make me look 'bad' and so i need some help because idk how to act like a 'moderate' person

Editor's Note: Hi Emily, First set a budget for your party in dollars. Most people need to live within a certain budget, the amount that's left after paying for their house, food, etc. Then start looking for things that you can do for that amount of money. It's a good thing to learn no matter how much money you have (because you may not always be rich) and it's good for all of us to know how to live on less. Make a game of it and see how little you can spend to have a nice party. There are lots of money saving ideas on this site. If you don't spend much on your party, maybe your mom will let you use any extra money you would have spent to give to a good cause, Katrina Relief, pet shelters, the food bank, or someone else.

Sam, I'm a mom. Try to have someone let you use an empty room or building for free. Make it a small building. It wont cost as much to decorate it. Use lots of clear christmas lights. Lights are fun.

hey.. i agree with most of the others too
you should just go and appologize to her.. but don't bribe and give her THINGS
you could ask her what you could do to get it back basicly..
be a daughter.. :D
well hope you get it back
bye

okay first things fist- apologize... then compromise... like- "I'll clean my room for a week and do laundry- is that worthy enough to have my party back?" or "What can I do to earn my party back- I'll do anything."

Hope this helps

I agree with the others. Go to her, sincerely apologize, and ask her what you can do to be able to have your party. Even offer to be grounded for 3 weeks afterward if you can just have your party. I hope your Mom changes her mind. Memories are so imortant. Take lots of pictures and get double made so you can give your friends copies.

hi hayley
i suggest you ask your mom for forgivness. explain that how you felt came rolling like thunder out of your mouth. try and talk with her. i am a 43 yrs old daughter that remembers well how this often happened to me. we always got it ironed out tho.

Hi Haley;
This sounds like an Ann Landers sort of problem. I agree with the advice you`ve received so far.
Communication is a great solver of problems so talk to your mother!

Hi Haley! Happy Birthday! Your mom is just being like any other mom--she is angry that you showed her disrespect, and she wants you to learn a lesson. To get on her good side again, you should write a nice letter to her telling her you know you were very wrong, and that was no way for an almost teenager to act. Tell her how much you love her and how much she means to you, then ask her if there is any other options for you to be punished for talking back. Make sure she knows that you understand what you did was wrong, and you should be punished for it. A thirteenth birthday is very special and can provide a lot of good memories in the future, it would be a shame to not have those memories. My daughter and I had a big fight on her 13th birthday, and we still cry over it--15 years later. Approach your mom as the young adult you are becoming, and have a nice mature discussion about the situation. Good luck honey--I hope you and your mom can work things out.

By Joe (Guest Post)
You are going to need to muster a sincere apology... Something like: "I am very sorry I talked back, I promise to try hard to not to talk back in the future, please let me have my birthday party." Be sincere and if she lets you have the party, reward her good deed by being nice to her even when it's easier to argue.

I don't know if your Mom is a great lady or a mean one, and I don't know if she is the type who always means what she says, or if she tends to blow off a little steam (which would not make her a mean lady, of course), but I think your only hope is in going to your Mom, apologizing (and being prepared to say why you're sorry), and asking her what you need to do for her to let you have the party. Unfortunately, it's really up to her. If she won't let you have the party, true friends will be sympathetic, and perhaps you can all go out for pizza or get together at a friend's house when your Mom decides to let you out of the house.
