A tip for avoiding stressing during the holidays from the ghost of Scrooge! Tell every member of your family and all your friends that you are broke and will not be buying any gifts this season, and possibly many seasons in the future; but you love them all very much and you wish them all a Happy Holidays. Also, they are all invited to drop by for Coffee and Cookies and great conversation with dancing and music.

I also want every member of Thriftyfun.com to send: Susan, Lewis, Fletcher, Jess and staff a Happy Holiday Wish Box just like this one and thank them for their open hearted giving during the whole year through! Signed: Scrooge!

And one more thought! Happy New Year to Every Body!

Source: The source of this tip comes from deep within the heart.

Dear Scrooge, I am deeply sorry I offended you, my point is, I dont want to tell my friends and family I am broke , and to come over, lets dance, I want to build good will and cheer, I want folks to understand there is nothing wrong with showing those you care for a small token of your love----or not, There can be extremes in frugality as well and extravagance. Scrooge turned into a nice guy and saved the world, however he had to go through one heck of a scary night to get there, save the world,,, thats why we come to this sight, My thoughts and prayers(and gifts) go to the troupes every day, My heart breaks for the fathers who cant hold their babies and read twas the night before Christmas, and mothers who fill in as best they can, I also thank them because they are assuring our right , for you and I to discuss our opinions.

My thoughts and prayers (and monetary support) go to the needy. I have others in my home every season (and throughout)that have no one to spend the holidays with, (and they receive) not only gifts but a sense of family and Holiday spirit.. We are all trying to do our part, and slowly maybe we will save the world one heart at a time, please don't be offended, Merry Christmas to you Mr Scrooge, and may you have a wonderful holiday season.

Dear Beckie!
Please give Scrooge another chance! Do you remember how he was converted by three Ghosts into being one of the nicest people around and how he saved Tiny Tim from dying!
All the converted Scrooges in this world need love at Christmas time in order to continue their struggle for human rights and social change. We Scrooges have to save the dying children of Darfur Sudan, and in places like the Central African Republic, where children are routinely kidnapped and held for ransom. Some are even killed when the ransom is not paid! We have to save the desperately poor and hungry and we do not have enough money to spend at Walmart! Please forgive Scrooge if he decides not to buy cheap or expensive gifts this Christmas, but tries to save $500. dollars for a tent to send to Darfur next summer, in order to protect a hungry and desperate child from the heat and the cold and the sand. You are still invited, Beckie, for Cookies and dancing and a free hug if and when we ever meet! Also, if you really want to give a wonderful gift this year, how about your own Tent of Hope. Contact Tim Monn, (707) 799-1056 or email timnon@comcast.net.
It is also possible, Beckie, to adopt a child with the World Vision organization. I have a little girl in Guatamala who depends on the small amount of money I send her every month. I only wish I could afford to adopt more children!
Happy Holidays and a Very Merry Christmas to you, Becky, with or without gifts! Signed: Scrooge

I am dissapointed with this post for a couple of reasons. 1.) being THRIFTYFUN is not about being scrooge, it is about being thrify and frugal with dignity and grace. So many people post cute crafts and recipes that are very frugal and also very appropriate to show people you love and respect one time a year how much you care for them, 2.) I absolutely agree Jesus is the reason for the season, but please dont use that as an excuse not to show love and good will. the three wise men found the baby Jesus to be such a treaure that they gave "gifts" to show their undying love and admiration for King Jesus. if Jesus is the reason for the season, I doubt he approves of scrooge. And honestly, there are many people who have absolutely noting to give at christmas, that is who we should be looking out for inviting to our homes, giving so they do not go throughout the holiday without, but is also a time to show the ones we love, how precious they are to us, and there are few who can honestly not afford cards, etc. 3.) as for our children, it is mostly in training I have had abundant christmases and lean christmases, my children are teenagers, and of course they want as much as mama will buy, however, I have spent their lifetimes around traditions, and gatherings and meals and love, and I do notice, that although they are TYPICAL teenagers, I can see telltale signs of what the Holidays are about. COME ON , Good tidings and Joy!!!!!!!!!!! no scrooges allowed on Thrifyfun!!! God with you bbb
