When we plant green pepper plants, my husband always places 2 or 3 book matches in the bottom of the hole before planting. It must be the sulfur in the match heads, but whatever it is, the difference is amazing. We always get strong, vigorous plants with the most beautiful large peppers all summer.

I need advise on what do to about bringing my plants indoors now that the winter cold is coming.
Any suggestions out there?
I'm a new gardener and I had a wonderful crop of peppers all summer and fall and would hate to hurt them now!

I'm new to this site and have just registered, but I don't know how to log on as a registered user yet. Can you tell me? Also, I found this site because I am looking for info on why my California Wonders plants don't seem to be growing. This is the first year I have been able to garden in a long time. My landlord cut down hedges and now I have a garden space! The space is along the driveway with a small stone wall. I planted the peppers near the wall interspaced with tomato plants which are thriving. Is it too late to put some matches near the plants? Should I move the plants farther away from the wall? Thanks. My email is j.henderson@snet.net.
