I buy a lot of my teas from "Daily Green Tea". http://www.republicoftea.com/.....u can find them on the net. They ship 50 bag servings in a very hard, sealed, round cardboard, container, with a really tight fitting metal lid. 250 bag amounts come in a brown paper bag, with sealed aluminum on the inside, with a zip lock top. These r very air tight. Recently, I had mice get in my kitchen & the only thing they didn't chew, was the daily green tea bags. They could smell everything else & chewed & ate all sorts of teas i had by other companies.

I always was sure the bags from "Daily" were good, but now I am a true believer. By the way, their teas are so good & tasty. It's the best green tea I've ever had. They have many varieties of teas, too. Everyone who loves good tea, should try some. They have these tiny tins you can carry in your purse for travel.

I put my tea in a metal canister (once) it gave the tea a metallic aftertaste. Now I keep it in a plastic canister

I'm looking to store loose leaf teas in tins. What is the best option for ensuring it stays fresh for a long time?

Loose tea keeps best in an airtight tin or container that does not let in light. Tea has a 1 year shelf life.

I keep some of my tea bags in my smallest canister of my canister set on the counter. It has the airtight lid. The rest of the box I store in the frig. Once when I had some tea bags stored in a cabinet for too long, they got buggy UGH!

I buy teabags 10 boxes at a time when I find them at a very good price. I store all but one box in the freezer. One box fills up a canister, with the remainder of the box going into the fridge. Just make sure not to spill anything on or around them.

To keep tea and tea bags fresh, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from strong-flavored foods.
