Grandmother's Oyster Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. sage
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 loves day old bread, cubed
  • 3 1/2 cup chicken broth, turkey drippings or giblet juice
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • onion and celery, chopped
  • 1 pint oysters

Directions

Mix sage and hot water. Beat eggs and 1/3 cup water together. Combine all ingredients and let ripen 3-4 hours. For a southern touch, substitute cornbread for half the bread. Bake in 3 qt. casserole dish at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour.
