Pineapple Apple Cake

I like this cake. It is moist, and pineapple tastes so good cooked!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapples
  • 3 cups apples, chopped and peeled (I use granny smith apples)

  • 1 box yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 cup nut, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Spread pineapple in 9 X 13 inch pan.

Mix chopped apples and lemon juice with 1/4 cup sugar. Spread this on top of pineapple in pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix on top of apple mixture. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup sugar on top of it all. Pour melted butter on top, covering well. Add nuts if you are using them.

Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove from oven. Cut through to bottom and let juice rise to the top. Bake 30 more minutes.

Can be served alone or with ice cream and cool whip.
