Bad Wall Cupboard Installation Job

When you come across one of these in you wall cupboards, make sure it's at top and not the bottom. My Crazy DIY house pre-owner put the fitted wardrobes on upside down.

1 = in and out
2+3 = hold the bracket to the cupboard
4 = up and down (or down and up in my case!)

I know it's not that funny - especially when it landed on my bed one day! Just glad it wasn't night!

Taking Zinc for Sweat and Colds

A neighbor claimed he could sweat and it never smelled because he took zinc daily.

Zinc helps the body heal faster but do not take it on an empty stomach! I give it to my kids along with C and A for colds.

For a western-themed party, cut out the thigh areas of old blue jeans and sew them into placemats. Be sure to keep the pockets intact and sew them on the placemat for the insertion of silverware.

Seattle Rain Joke

A man talks to a kid on the street in Seattle, "Hey kid, I'm here visiting from California for a week and it's been raining every single day. When is the rain going to stop?" The kids says, "I don't know, I'm only six."

Cleaning Oily Stains off of Slate Floors

We have a slate floor in our sunroom (which is the gathering place when our children and grandchildren are visiting.) I found that regular cleaning did not remove oily looking stains caused by food being dropped.

I decided to try a little trick I have always used to get oily stains out of clothing: sprinkle baby powder on the stain, rub it in, and let it set for a while - sometimes it only takes a few minutes, but on tough stains it takes longer, maybe even several hours. I have also found that cornstarch or flour will sometimes work if I don't have baby powder.

After letting the powder set, brush it off or vacuum with the brush attachment, then wipe with a damp cloth. It's worked many times for me! (On clothing, it usually is not necessary to wipe with a damp cloth.)

Fixing Pan After Burning Caramel Corn Syrup

While making caramel corn, I burned the bottom of my saucepan while making the syrup. I used hot water and Dawn to remove it. Put water and soap in the pan and boil on the stove for 10 minutes. The burned stuff came right off.

Store Brands That Are Better Than Name Brand Products

I'm interested in knowing if anyone out there has tried and liked BETTER a store brand product rather than the same thing in the name brand. Some store brands measure-up; but many fail. This can be anything from household cleaners to food items.

Thank you,

My liquid eyeliner blotted on my pink top. I made a mess by washing it with water. A bit of it came of but the rest seems to be stuck on it. My top is made of 92% viscose and 8% spandex. The stain has been there for nearly two months. Is there any way you can help? its my favorite top.

Does anyone have a solution to "loud ticking" clocks. It seems that most of our clocks make a bit of noise. Does anyone know how to "silence" them?

Cakes Sticking to an Angel Food Cake Pan

Today I tried to make Five Flavor Cake in an Angel Food pan and it stuck. The recipe did not call for the pan to be treated. Last summer I made a Jewish Apple Cake and that also stuck in the pan. Both these recipes called for this type pan - but they both stuck - any ideas why?

Thanks!

Re-Covering a Speaker Cabinet

I have a speaker that was damaged in shipping (UPS) and was thinking of re-covering the cabinet. The cabinet is constructed of particle board covered with a fake wood vinyl laminate - or something. Anyway, I was thinking of completely re-covering the cabinet with some sort of cool fabric. Is this something that would be difficult for someone with no experience with this sort of thing? If not, any ideas on what I could use would be great. I am male, so I don't want anything girly looking (heh).

Cleaning Laundromat Washing Machines

I clean a laundromat that has some big stainless steel washers. I use the SS polish on them but they've also got puddle shaped spots on top that appear to be soap scum or hard water spots that don't budge with the SS cleaner. Anyone have any suggestions before I drag every conceivable home concoction down there to try?
