Renting Walkers

I am looking for rentals of walkers in San Francisco from surgical supply services. Any information?

Thanks,

Many thanks for all who gave me excellent tips on locating a used walker for temporary use. The issue is now moot; I have a walker availabe at my daughter's home. Miriam Null

If none of these resources help - try contacting the local Lions Club in that area. You can find the local clubs by checking http://www.lionsclubs.org, and many of them have medical loan closets that let you borrow equipment for free, or a donation at your discretion.

Have a great visit!

Editor's Note: Another place that I don't think has been mentioned is your local Freecycle group. To find one in your area go to: http://www.freecycle.org

Check with your senior citizen center. Ours lets us use theirs for free. They have walkers, canes, etc.

Our local thrift store has walkers. I am sure you could find one there as children of the elderly who used them give them away.

Hi,
Have you tried Craig"s List. Not sure if I spelled it right, but they are on internet & one can be located for your area. Usually if you post a need
there is someone wanting to help in that area or someone who has what
you need. I agree with the other gals. Thrift stores/garage sales are
a really great place to check. Salvation Army would be good to check also. Good luck.

The Goodwill, thrift shops and yard sales are always cheaper. If you are on Medicare, usually they pay for the rent. But, once you are dismissed from your doctor from using a walker, the surgical supply service gets the walker back. For me it was just easier to buy a used walker from a second hand store, I think I paid $3.00 for it. We still have the walker in the basement saved for someone else to use or borrow. Good luck and I hope you find a good cheap one.

Try the goodwill or thrift shop. They always have a lot of walkers. Probably cheaper than renting.
