Ronald McDonald House has a specific "pop top" collection program. If you google, or use whatever search engine for Ronald McDonald house you should easily find out the information you want. It is not a scam.

Hi, I've heard that McDonald's restaurants accept them. All proceeds go towards their Ronald McDonald Houses.

Call your local hospitals. They collect them where my daughter works but I don't know where they go; think it is for Diabetes or Kidney foundations. They are both a great place to start.
