Please Recycle Your Carpet

I saw the Tip of the Day that went out about carpeting. PLEASE recycle your carpet!

Here is a couple companies that will recycle carpet:

For others, and to learn more, please visit Carpet Recovery: It is incredibly wasteful to dump carpet, so PLEASE try to recycle it. These companies can make it into new sustainable product and keep it out of the landfill.

I have some 50-year-old magazines with advertisements in them for carpet companies that would take your old carpets. I had no idea they still do that.

Thanks for the tip. I will be needing to take up some old carpet shortly, and I am ashamed to say that I had never even thought of recycling it. But now that it has been pointed out to me I will be sure to know what I am doing with it before it comes up.

We just put a piece of recycled carpet from a nearby apartment complex on the floor of our boat. We have found we can even wash it!
