Craft: Beaded Cross

I have been making these crosses for 3 years now. They are good for gifts. Hang them on your car rear view mirror or in the window of your home for sun catchers.

Amelia the Cat

Amelia is 10 years old. She is a Domestic Long Hair Kitty. I rescued Amelia from the Humane Society 5 months ago. She has only recently found how to play and loves to chase my foot when it is under covers. I have introduced her to lots of toys but she doesn't understand what to do with them yet. We will get there though.

For the first 9 years of Amelia's life, she was abused. She spent the last year of her life in a cage at the Humane Society refusing to let anyone get near her. Her constant means of communicating was hissing and growling. She was such an unhappy girl that it broke my heart and I just had to bring her home with me. She now has a brother and sister, Toby and Bonnie, who are 9 year old siblings I have had since birth. Amelia isn't thrilled with them but alas Bonnie has learned to ignore her and Toby has fallen head over heels in love with her.

I have written more details and show more pictures which I would love to share it with you. Please consider adopting an older cat. They are so grateful and add so much to your life. See more pictures and Amelia's story here:

Thank you for letting me share Amelia with you.

Puder (Dachshund)

Puder is a blue and tan Dachshund, about 2 1/2 years old. I got him as a puppy when he was 6 weeks old, from a doctor and his wife.

He loves us and our grandchildren and is especially fond of going anywhere in our car, loves to go 4 wheeling with us also. He also loves to pester our cat to death but they love each other to death. What joy a dog brings to your life!

Cleaning Nicotine (Cigarette Smoke) Off Walls

I rented a home where we all smoked for ten years and the walls were terribly stained. I used bleach as well as many different things. I found the easiest way to clean and deodorize was to use white vinegar and water with a mop. I mopped the walls with the solution and the nicotine rolled off so easy. You will be amazed

Stretching Liquid Hand Soap

My family uses anti-bacterial soap at the kitchen and utility room sinks and with hands being washed constantly in my household, the cost adds up quickly! To make the soap last longer, I keep spare bottles and thin the soap down with water, usually 1 part soap to not quite 3 parts water. Sure saves the pennies. I have been doing this for over 20 years now.

Christmas: Use Different Wrapping Paper for Each Person

For years now, I've been wrapping Christmas presents in a unique way. Each recipient gets his or her own paper! After wrapping, I write the name on the back of the gift with marker, then decorate the package with cutouts from old cards to match the recipient and write inspirational, humorous, or loving messages. Distributing packages on Christmas morning has never been easier, and everyone loves my decorations (some even keep them to use again!).

Jojoba Oil for Make Up Remover

Use up you eye make up remover and moister creams, cleansers and then buy jojoba oil to replace all three. This is what I have done and I am now saving money buying a natural oil which I get at my health food Store. This jojoba oil has replaced my eye make up remover. Just moisten a cotton ball and gently remove eye make up.

You can extend you facial moisturizer by adding just a couple drops of jojoba oil to it, or as I am now doing the jojoba oil is now my moisturizer. I just put some on a cotton ball and put on each a.m. and p.m. For cleansing my face I put the jojoba oil on a cotton ball and wipe my face gently to remove all make up, then rinse with a damp wash cloth. This is the best product and it is all natural with out any chemicals. There is no reason to spend lots of hard earned cash on expensive facial products. I am very happy with the results.

Source: My daughter's dermatologist told us about jojoba oil.

Household Repair Kit

I put together my own little repair and tool box so that when I need to fix something quickly, I don't need to go to the shed and search for the tool I need.

I put in a couple of screwdrivers, both regular and Phillips, a small hammer, a few nails and screws, a roll of mashing tape, duct tape, a pair of pliers, a wire cutter type pliers, some heavy duty glue, a box cutter, etc.

Put these things in a little wooden work box and store it under your bed. Then when you need it, you know where it is. This has saved me many hours of aggravation when something needs fixing. It helps to have the smaller tools you need, all organized in one spot.

Glass Jars for Food Storage

I store my sugars in glass jars, like the big pickle jars, same thing for flour, cornmeal, oatmeal. Bugs can't get in them, because my house is so small. I decorate my jars first and put them on shelves hung in front of window that doesn't get sun. It is like having my personalized canister set.

Use Your Vacuum for Fleas

if you are having a problem with fleas, put moth crystals in your sweeper bag. When you vacuum, it sucks up the fleas and their larvae. It kills the fleas and keeps the larvae from hatching. Change the bag often and be sure to bathe your pets to kill the fleas on them. If you do this regularly, vacuuming often it will take care of the fleas.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

After tucking their three-year-old child Sammy in for bed one night, his parents heard sobbing coming from his room.

Rushing back in, they found him crying hysterically. He managed to tell them that he had swallowed a penny and he was sure he was going to die. No amount of talking helped.

His father, in an attempt to calm him down, palmed a penny from his pocket and pretended to pull it from Sammy's ear.

Sammy was delighted.

In a flash, he snatched it from his father's hand, swallowed it, then cheerfully demanded, "Do it again, Daddy!"

Fixing a Sagging Couch

I would appreciate professional advice about my old sofa set that sags badly. I tried replacing the seat cushions, but that did not improve the situation. At first I thought that the springs are coil springs, but it turned out that they are actually what they call, conical springs. They look beautifully in tact, nothing looks loose or out of place.

The frame is of a very good hard wood and looks perfect. I have not found any upholsterer here who knows how to adjust the tension, if that would be possible at all. I would appreciate your advice very much.
Thank you.

Cat Stopped Using Litter Box

I would appreciate your advice about how to make my old cat stop peeing on the floor. She used to use her litter tray, but stopped using it ever since we brought a new cat. There are two litter trays in different places, but I cannot stop the new cat from using both trays. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Relieving Itching for Dogs

I have a tiny 3 year old beagle. She seems to have a perpetual itching problem, sometimes so severe that she whines loudly. She has been identified with mange and was treated with medicines (antihistamines) and medicinal rinses for it, but her condition has stayed the same. I really pity her when she scratches herself near her lower jaw and screams. Her lower jaw and ears, which are her major scratching spots, are slightly red now and she has also lost some of fur due to this.

I have a 7 year old black Labrador, too. Lately she has started to have patches of dry flaky skin. Her fur comes out in tufts when she is scratching herself. She is always biting and licking herself on different spots on her body, mainly under her lower belly. Will olive oil or cod liver oil help? Can someone help me please?
