another way of recycling would be once your kids have grown through the clothes would be to cut them into 6 inch squares..sort according to colours and save them till you have enough for a patchwork quilt the babies would be warm and youd have a sentimental blankie too...
I do the same thing for all of my children. I have three boys so I take the hand me downs from my six year old and put them up for my two year old. I take his clothes and put them up for my 5 month old. I take his clothes and sell them or barter them for more clothes. This is a great way to recycle clothing.
Another tote can be added to the closet so that you can toss things in there that are too small. When the tote is full, you can store or give away.
I too use the same storage technique. But since I have so many gently used clothes that were given to me, I also put down summer or winter under the size that way I don't have to dig through a container looking for the right season outfit. I also store shoes by size as well.
