RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
My 4 year old thought that the back of my microfiber couch was the perfect place to teach my 2 year old his alphabet with an ink pen (how cute). I do give her a little credit, she tried to but paper up first, but the pen poked through, then it wasn't worth the hassle apparently. When I got down stairs, I couldn't even describe the shock. My husband was out of town and would flip out if he saw this. I googled it and found one other site before this they said to try ammonia and peroxide first (what are they nuts!). I thought I would look again and found this site. Hand sanitizer seemed much more reasonable. It worked! Now my husband won't flip out so bad when he sees the picture :) Thanks everyone!

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
HOLY COW! Purell hand sanitizer is a miracle god for ink on microfiber. Simply put Purell hand sanitizer directly on the ink and let it sit for just a second then blot it up with a white cloth. It is like magic it just transfers from the microfiber (couch in my case) to the cloth. I thought I was gonna stroke when my 2yr old son drew on my new 2k dollar couch. I quickly did a google search and wha laa it's gone. My couch is saved and looks like it did when I bought it.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
Just got a new couch. My husband had my son sitting on it with a book circling things he wanted from a catalog...only having the couch maybe 10 minutes and already two ink stains. Came online, found this and the Germ X worked wonders. Thanks to all the responses saying it worked made me feel more comfortable trying it. I'm normally sceptical about things I read online.

Just any hand sanitizer will not work, I did not have any Germ-x or Purell but did have some from Bath and Body Works and it did nothing, so its off the the grocery store for the above.

I just want to say thanks to everyone. My 2 year old decided my light beige couch was the perfect canvas for a black ink pen while I cooked dinner. I used Germ-X and a white washcloth and some rubbing (alot actually, it was a pretty big artwork) and it is gone. My husband would have FLIPPED if he had seen it, so I am just so glad this worked.

Hand sanitizer works like a charm! Also, my two-year-old son has a bad habit of writing on our microfiber sofas with CRAYONS! I've been using SoftSoap Hand Soap to wash this out, and it works it beautifully. However, I've since desidnated a "coloring/drawing only" area for my son to avoid such catastrophes! SoftSoap and Hand Sanitizer (I used Germ-X) are wonders on MicroFiber. It takes some scrubbin', but it's well worth it.

My nephew was running around my living room with a ball point pen in hand. He began jumping on all the furniture and wasn't even aware the pen had been marking the love seat and chaise lounge. Before exploding I thought I'd better google this problem and thank good this is the first site I pulled up. Purell Hand Sanitizer worked beautifully on our microfiber furniture. A little dab, a little scrubbing with a white towel and VOILA! Good as new. Thanks for the suggestion!

I too found that Purell hand sanitizer works like a charm. In our case is was red ink from a felt tip pen. A few applications of the hand sanitizer plus dabbing with paper towels completely removed it. Kudos to whomever discovered this.

Whoever thought to try hand sanitizer to get ink out a microfiber couch...THANK YOU!!! I discovered that while on a phone call my 2-year-old decided to use our microfiber couch as her paper and wrote all over it with a blue ink pen! So, I flipped then ran to my computer and goggled it and this came up, I wasn't sure but, would try anything to save my couch....IT WORKED!!! Once it dried there was no evidence of my 2-year-old ever being there =] I used regular Germ-X since that's what I had on hand and it worked beautifully!!

Well, another testimony to the benefits of hand sanitizer (especially if it has lemon Peel oil in it!) My 15 year old teenage daughter with ADHD, was doing her homework in black ink roller pen ( and went to get a snack) and sat down on her pen.
She got up to find ink marks on my cream microfiber sofa! I hit the roof! How many times had I told her NOT to do her homework in pen anyway? I found one site that said to use Lysol spray but I was nervous about it's strength even though I went out to buy some. Then I found this site! WOW! I had some that was a school gift with lemon peel oil but didn't have enough for the whole stain. So, I ran back out to get Purell and it was out! It is all out except for a small spot where the tip of the pen ran into the foam under the fiber leaving a small shadow of the ink. She was so grounded and I was a monster but now it looks new again. All is forgiven but she is now not allowed to sit on the sofa to do homework. I realize it wasn't on purpose but teenagers should know better. I will definitely recommend this to friends. I will probably work well on my microfiber long jacket as well.

OMG! When I was cooking dinner for me and my 18 month daughter she was very quiet. I decided to look in the living room n saw her evidence (the blue bic pen) on the floor and immediately looked at the couch. I put her in her room and ran to the internet, read everyone feedback and looked at the sofa and saw the bottle of germ x that I had for months now.
I test a small spot n rubbed with a paper towel. It took that stain so I decided to do the rest and everything came out. I thank everyone for their feedback because I'm a 20 yr single mom n was ready to call someone tomorrow to clean it out! THANKS!

Hand Sanitizer WORKS
Discovered one of our 4yr old twin sons had marked up two of our new microsuede couch cushions up with an ink pen. I was ready to puke. These aren't even paid for yet - they are THAT new. Thank God for Google and this link. We have a bottle of Germ-X hand sanitizer - took a towel to it and rubbed the hand goo on and to my surprise and relief, it worked INSTANTLY. No damage to the cushion, no leftover marks, it is GONE. Before you try hair spray, baby shampoo or carpet cleaner (all of which can possibly damage the fiber) - try Purell/Germ-X hand sanitizer FIRST.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
Here I am. Another person who was so happy with their new couches and son left the ink pen on it and it made big blots on there! Oh by! What did I do? Came straight to google and this was the site it brought me to! I used purell and it worked! I got a little scared because it looked like it was smearing however after I gently put the purell on it and wet the towel I used and blotted. It all came up. I waited for it to dry and what do you know? You could never tell anything was there!
Everyone kept telling me that microfiber is so easy to clean! I love that!

I didn't have any purell so I decided to use rubbing alcohol since I had some in the house. It worked to take out two- 1inch blue ball point pen marks on my cream microfiber sofa! I used 70% alcohol and I blotted the marks with a paper towel to get up most of the ink, then I just rubbed a bit more, let it dry, and I don't have ugly blue pen stains AT ALL anymore.

Same problem! 2 yr. old with blue ink pen, on tan microfiber couch, used rubbing alcohol and an old tooth brush, after 5 mins of scrubbing, it's gone! I had heart failure when I found what she did, I was upstairs in the bathroom not even 10 minutes as she watched a video, and came down to find her artwork. It's my mom's couch, I thought she would kill me. All I will say is, hank God for rubbing alcohol!

I used the Purell Hand Sanitizer and it took both crayon and ink stains off of our sage microfiber sectional! Thank you for whom ever discovered this. You saved me a lot of money by not having to call a company to come out and clean my sofa!!! FYI: I have a friend who swears that a teaspoon of regular Woolite Laundry Soap mixed with a small spray bottle of water works too --- she had Crayola Marker stains on her microfiber sofa. The marks all came out and her sofa looks brand new. She just sprayed a small area and softly rubbed the spot w/ a soft cloth. Hope this helps someone else!

So we had a night! My 2 yr old pulled all the keys off my husbands laptop while I was taking a bath Thought I was gonna be dead, but we sat there and fixed each key piece by piece. Then I go back into the living room and INK all over my new micro fiber couch. I freaked! I googled "how to get ink out of micro fiber" and wa la. I was brought here. I didn't have purell sanitizer but I did have some kind of purple kid grape sanitizer. Figured it was worth a try it couldn't get any worse right? It came right out and the purple didn't stain either. At least it does smell grape now, but I can handle that much better than a master piece drawn on my couch.

My couch is not microfiber, it's a cotton velvet blend. I didn't see anything else on the web that sounded any better so I tried Hand Sanitizer and alcohol. Just a caution to anyone who reads these posts and things that this is some amazing cure-all.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
My son just took a tour with a purple marker on our 2 hour old microfiber loveseat and chair -- my Mother's Day present! I used mild soap and water, blotting, as the instructions on the sofa said, but it didn't appear to be working well, so I ran to the store to buy some Purel. It works, thank goodness. I would suggest using a white t-shirt rather than a towel, making sure to put a thin layer of the Purel on the t-shirt so that it doesn't glob in one spot. Don't rub hard; just run your finger (under the t-shirt) over the mark. I did it in the opposite direction my son took.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
Our 16-month-old got creative with a blue gel pen on his sage green microfiber chair, but the Purell tip on this site really seems to be doing the trick! Thanks so much!

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
This morning my 2 year old son took a blue ink pen to both my microfiber loveseat and my recliner. I was so upset until I read that hand sanitizer would take it out. I went and grabbed a bottle of Purell hand sanitizer, and to my excitement the ink came out right away with just a few drops and about 5 seconds of rubbing with a dry towel on each spot! I even tried it on a couple of old ink marks from about 4 months ago and it took those out too! Thanks for the help!

We used Purell hand sanitizer to clean several different ink pen spots - dabbed a little drop over each spot - rubbed lightly back and forth with a cotton towel. MAGIC.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
ANYTHING is supposed to come off of a microfiber sofa with a basic alcohol solution. When we bought our sofa, the salesman wrote our phone number on one of the cushions with a ball-point pen and then cleaned it off with the solution in a spray bottle and a terrycloth towel. We were SOLD!
If alcohol solution does not work, try Mostenbocker's (can be found in the cleaning aisle at Home Depot). There are several different Mostenbocker formulas - I've used #3 to successfully remove dried, red NAIL POLISH from a WHITE down comforter. It's a little labor intestive, but it's AMAZING. I've also used another one of their formulas (#7?) to remove melted chewing gum from the cloth upholstery in my car. Their cleaning products are second to none.

My wife was playing around and accidentally threw an open ball point pen my way while I was sitting on our brand new microfiber recliner, it made a black ink mark on it and, needless to say, I was not happy. After searching the net, I found this post with possible solutions. I tried the hand sanitizer since I did not have rubbing alcohol readily available and because I wanted to hurry and address the problem. IT WORKED like a charm! WOW, I placed a dab only on the spot impacted, rather than rubbing it in and not leaving it to soak I immediately used a clean and dry cotton wash cloth and used brisk sweeping motions in every again on the spot. The area first grew wet looking (understandably) even though I was not rubbing it in and even though it had not soaked in, this seemed to be a natural occurrence though. After about 3 to 5 minutes of the lightly brushing and very delicate stroking technique the wettened area began to dry and revealed the spot was gone, no rub marks, no discoloration and no stain whatsoever. Really cool, you know I bet if you asked her my wife would not admit it in conversation with a stranger but I could tell she was quite relieved it came out. sincerely, collective sigh

Thank you for the rubbing alcohol recommendation. I really doubted it would work after my 19mo son drew on my beige microfiber couches, but the only mark left is the water stain that my upholstery cleaners can get out.

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
Wow! I am soooo thrilled! My son drew all over my new cream colored micro-fiber couch (again!) and this time after an hour of using the solvent that came with the couch and it was hardly budging I tried the alcohol and it worked immediately! Looks brand new again! I was scared to try it because I didn't want to make it worse, but I tried anyway as I thought it would be best to do it on the fresh ink asap. Thank you!

A girlfriend of mine brought her 18 month son over. He had a field day coloring all over my soon to be husband's new beige couch with a blue ink pen. I thought it was going to be the death of me and our daughters. Thank you so much for the rubbing alcohol advice. It worked like a charm. We now can remove the throw blanket:-)

THANK YOU very much for the advice! My older sister was helping our younger sister with her homework and accidentally wrote on the sofa. Needless to say we felt guilty and didn't know how to get the stain out. We tried the hand sanitizer and it worked great! The stain was out within minutes!

I just googled the same question, and then tried getting blue pen ink out, with alcohol. It worked! It was just 91% rubbing alcohol. You have to be a little patient but just keep rubbing!

Hand sanitizer works perfect! Try this, the ink will come off instantly. My toddler got blue ink all over our light colored microfiber sofa and I didn't have rubbing alcohol around the house, so I tried this and was thrilled at the results!

After many warnings about using a red SHARPIE on or near the light beige microfiber couch for his fantasy football draft, my fiance dropped the pen and made a 3 inch mark on the couch. After reading these posts, we used rubbing alcohol and our dryer on cool and the red mark disappeared. Thank you. Cassandra, Redondo Beach, Ca

LIFESAVER!! My husband bought me a very expensive dining room set that I have wanted forever and the chair seats are microfiber. My lovely 2 year old son traced his hands with a red pen on every chair! I didn't want my husband to know so I came here. The rubbing alcohol worked great and took the pen right off!

Thank God I read this. I have a sage microfiber couch and my child took red pen all over it. I put rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and it came right off! I used cold air from a hair dryer to dry it and you can't even tell it was there. It didn't bleach it or ruin the fabric. Thank you all who made the suggestions!

RE: Ink on Microfiber Furniture
My 2 year old son drew a large picture on my cream color microfiber sofa with blue ink. After reading a few peoples suggestions from this link, I used rubbing alcohol. It worked pretty good, although when it is still wet you can still see it. I used a blow dryer which made the ink fade a lot quicker, however, I initially started with the blow dryer on hot air. After realizing this was then leaving burn marks I changed to cool. Thanks for all the feedback.
