My garbage disposal won't turn. The motor is not burnt out and there are no obstructions. If I take the bottom plate off, is there somewhere I can grease or WD-40 to make wheel turn freely when wall switch is turned on?

i understand you dont think anything is in there. but i diddnt think anything was in mine either. i kept cranking the key and pushing the button to no avail. finally i had a repairment come in. there was a .25 and .10 cents wedged in the thing. he used some very big pliers to get them out.

There should be a button near the bottom of the disposal that you can push and it will release; hopefully it will be functional again.

You may want to check your owner's manual, usually they have troubleshooting tips.

Maybe your disposal is blocked. My husband has done appliance repair for 0ver 30 years. This is his solution, providing there is nothing wrong with the disposal. Fill it with ice cubes and run the disposal. When the ice is gone run hot water through. Also there should be a reset button on the bottom of your disposal to get it started.

I don't think you will find any place to oil or grease the unit as they are sealed at the manufacturer, however, at the very bottom of the unit they is a hole that is made to take an allen wrench. The allen wrench comes with each unit and should one freeze up the allen wrench is put into the hole and turned to free up the unit. If you lost the wrench you should be able to buy one at a big box store.
