Removing Painted Wallpaper Glue

Our previous homeowners had removed a ceiling wallpaper border and then painted over the area without removing the paste residue. There is a noticeable difference in texture where the border once was. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to correct this since the glue residue is under the paint?

I think you will have to sand this area to get off the bumpy paint and glue.

In my bathroom the previous owner took off some border and then painted over it without taking the glue off. Any ideas how to get the wallpaper glue off that is under the paint now?

RE: Removing Painted Wallpaper Glue

I'm afraid you are going to have to scrape the paint off, where the paste was painted over. Use a razor blade scraper, then sand the area. (02/14/2010)
