Today's Tips
Whiter Whites with Borax Rinse
Add a teaspoon of Borax to the final rinse when washing white clothing. Make sure the Borax doesn't have any clumps in it so that it will dissolve quickly.

Uses for Coffee Filters
Sometimes when I run out of filters for the cone shape coffee maker I use a regular one and just put a little hole in it and it works fine!

Uses for Coffee Filters: Serving Dish
I use coffee filters as little serving dishes for my grandchildren. I can put their cookies, popcorn, chips in them and there are no bowls to wash.
You can use them as a quick doily under desserts or fruit. A lot cheaper too.

Starching Dark Clothing
When starching dark clothing, starch the inside instead of the visible side of the clothing. This will prevent any streaking that may occur from being visible.

Using it Up: Leftover or Stale Cereal
I save the little bit left over from breakfast cereals in a baggy in the freezer. Rice crispies, corn flakes, bran work well. Anything but sweetened cereal.
I then pullverize 1/2 cup at a time in the blender as a healthy addition to waffles or pancakes. You can also add it to the tops of muffins (mixed with butter and a bit of brown sugar for muffins) or yogurt.
Anyway I use it up is a money saver :-)

Using it Up: Leftover or Stale Cereal
Have you ever gotten to the bottom of a box of cereal only to find out that it is a bit stale? Using your food processor, pulverize and add 1/3 cup of the cereal to a recipe of bread in your bread maker. You will not be able to taste the staleness. Sometimes I pulverize more than I need and place the cereal in freezer bags instead of waiting for it to go stale. Happy eating.

Save Your Butter Wrappers
Save your wrappers for stick butter. The next time you need to grease a pan before baking, open it up and spread it butter side down over the whole dish. These wrappers can easily be stored in a ziploc baggie in the door of the fridge. By Sandi Kaiser

Use a Smaller Container for Milk
I buy the large size container of milk and when I get home from the store, I pour part of into an empty smaller container that milk had come in but is now empty and saved for this purpose. The milk does not sour as fast as if you are just using one large container and constantly opening and closing it.

Featured Feedback: Tasty Fried Potatoes
The secret to those potatoes your talking about (like the skillet potatoes at Denny's) is the spices: Lawry's Seasonal Salt, garlic powder and pepper.
Don't peel the potatoesjust wash, cube, season (with spices mentioned above) and fry.

Featured Feedback: Bleach Stains from my Washer are Driving Me Nuts!
One thing I have been doing for years has saved my clothes and made my washer work better and longer.
Once a week pour 2 cups of household vinegar over your agitator to clean off all the residue left by soaps and powdered bleach. Run some old white towels through a short wash without soap. They will come out whiter and cleaner than before but your machine will be clean also. It is a good idea to run vinegar through once and a while by itself. If I get a real build up I use an entire gallon.
To prevent problems in the future - dissolve your detergent in an old cut off bleach bottle. Rinse one out. Fill half full with warm or hot water, depending on what you are washing and stir after pouring detergent in. Let it stand while you fill the drum with clothes and water. Don't add soapy liquid until the washer is almost full. Even adding detergent first doesn't always work. Try it.

Are Extended Services Warranties worth the cost for cars? I'm overwhelmed with conflicting information regarding coverage, limitations, and fees. The more research I do, the more wary I become. What do you think?

Teaching Your Child to Clean!
By Pamela Cole Harris
When you call 911 because there is a distinct and suspicious odor in the neighborhood and the culprit turns out to be two pairs of sneakers, three pairs of underwear and a dozen or more hotdog remnants of unknown origin and vintage found under your child's bed, it's past time to get your child's room organized! When your child has gotten lost for hours in the mounds of clutter trying to find his way from the bed to the door, it's past time to teach your child to organize himself! But if you haven't reached that stage yet, there is still hope!
