Place these natural looking fragrance rocks around your house, in ash trays, in the car as a great alternative to potpourri or incense.

Fragrant Rocks

Materials:

  • 1/2 cup of flour (wholemeal flour gives great texture)
  • 1/2 cup of salt.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of essential oil (your favorite scent).
  • 2/3 cup of boiling water

Instructions:

Mix all the dry ingredients together then add the oil and last the hot water, add the color drop by drop. Once they are cool enough to handle, roll them into small balls around 2-3 inch in size or be creative and make assorted shapes.

This mixture dries hard after several days in a warm and dry area and has a large potential to be used for other great craft ideas.

Wouldn't the flour attract insects, like meal moths or flour beetles?

How did you get the colors? They look like real stones. psws_12 at yahoo.com

What a great recipe! This is very similar to salt dough, isn't it? Have there been any problems with the rocks flaking after they've dried, and would it help to cook them in the oven?

I think I'm going to use this for my christmas presents this year ^_^ Thanks for sharing!
